With a lovely site by the river, it's going to be restaurant, isn't it? With a few pub tables attached. One (American) ale on tap, the rest being ciders and lagers. Ugh!

This is more of a restaurant than a pub. The only real ale - Doom Bar - was off, so the only bitter available was Tetley Creamflow (ugh!). It was very busy, although the food looked OK. With the Swan still closed (temporarily I hope) and the Nelson converted into an Italian restaurant, Wheathampstead has little to offer the beer drinker at the momnt.

A pretty bad pub restaurant. Started badly - we waited 40 minutes for a garlic bread starter in a cold room. When we chased it turned up with the main course and were told the starter always comes together with the main. (That's why it is called a starter?)

The food was a mixture of average and poor: the garlic bread was toasted on top and soggy underneath; the creole chicken tasted like it had been coated in road clearing rock salt.

Wish we had never bothered. Still the leftover creole chicken is keeping the drive clear of ice a treat.

A very large pub bur more of a restaurant feel. food was adequate and a good value for money. I would probably go again as they cater for all.

Called in after a walk with the dog. Doom Bar, Bombardier and London Pride - Not a very exciting selection. Barman seemed to be in a world of his own, far, far away.
Didn't try the food, which, from what I saw, didn't look too bad, and presented in a "gastro" style. But the restaurant area looked quite dark and un-inviting.
Good points - My pint of Pride was quite good, and they have a nice garden.
