This place is now primarily an Indian restaurant and only appears to be open on evenings. Nevertheless, the front bar retains its traditional features and seems to have a regular local clientele that are here solely for the beer. 4 handpulls were unclipped, leaving the Marstons Pedigree looking a little lonely. There is a second bar at the rear, with the main restaurant area beyond. We didn't try the food. But this seemed to be fairly popular too. blue_scrumpy - 21 May 2011 22:24 |
Since the restaurant became the Jaipur, the Cross and Bowling Green has become a very worthy and popular place to dine out. Best to book at weekends. The snug is a great little room for pre dinner drinks the cost of which can be added to your table bill. The food is manificent! Never been let down; the choice is superb - venison even! Really worth a try, I'm sure you won't beat this food very easily. I'd rate the restaurant as 8/10, food 9/10 and the pub just for drinks 6/10. nigelhuggins - 15 Jan 2011 14:34 |
A really great, old fashioned British pub. Pets are allowed in the bar and snug. The Restaurant is totally seperate and the food is wholesome, fresh "pub grub". Not a theme or "scene kids" place. dmbarry - 16 Jul 2007 09:27 |
A nice pub, only ever drunk in the snug room there, place seems to be quite empty most of the time. I have never seen anyone in the restaurant. marcv - 1 Jan 2006 23:46 |
