We had Sunday lunch here about 2 weeks ago. It was very disappointing. Dried out inedible beef, hard veg - one tiny piece of cabbage. Burnt roast potatoes. Wouldn't go again. review57 - 24 Jun 2011 14:12 |
According to local press it's re-opening on Friday after a 100,000 revamp. Can't rate it yet as I haven't been there for ten years TiaMariaJim - 23 Feb 2011 16:05 |
What with the travelodge next door, this pub is aimed at people stopping by the village and aims to feed them rather than give them a night out. The food is great and the service moderate to OK. Good at what it does, but you'd be better off drinking at the Crown and Crooked Billet round the corner. Neil_floor - 7 Oct 2009 21:06 |
Somewhere to eat I think as the bar service has been pretty poor the last few times I visited. drunkmarv - 19 Sep 2008 14:55 |
I have been visiting in the lodge next door to the pub for over a year now. The service I have received from the bar staff & waitresses has been second to none. The food is excellent value, always hopt & very tasty. I can recommend the steak or the lamb, both are mouth watering. The wine is fantastic & they have a great selection. The breakfast in the morning is self service, but you can have whatever you want & as much as you want. If you are looking for somewhere with a great atmosphere, great food, great company & a great place to sleep try this pub. It really is worth a look 10 out of 10 for me anytime. I have never in 12 months had a bad word to say. I wouldn't travel 150 miles & stay anywhere else !!!!!!! minirule - 1 Feb 2007 19:01 |
