Had a meal and a couple of pints here this week. Hadn't been here for about 30 years when it was on the local darts circuit.Pub is now very smart, pleasant, and quite well-frequented for a Monday night. The food was average, the beer was fine. The barmaid was very friendly and cheerful. Would use the pub again. scoobybooze2 - 18 Dec 2019 11:24 |
Licensee has changed a lot of times, current one also terrible! Seems friendly to certain regulars, but as I don't use this pub that often, I felt like a total outsider. Manager's attitude was awful, as was that of some other staff. Even though it was pretty dead, service was really slow, seemingly because the staff didn't seem to want to be there, and were very miserable. One in particular poured about 2 pints in the few hours I was there, while another was doing all of the work. Not a friendly place and quite run down. Seems like it's basically a pub for the few locals that have stuck with it and got to know manager, and no-one else is made welcome. Wont go again until licensee and staff have changed! __Anonymous__ - 22 Mar 2011 20:00 |
I used to really like the Cobham, nice regulars, no convo killing music and a nice relaxed atmosphere. I dont use it that often now since they refurbed it a few years ago because its really light in the Lounge and you need sun glasses to acclimitize. Still a good pub tho. andyaston - 9 Mar 2009 16:28 |
Licensees changed again. Usually 1 real ale on tap but of variable quality between ok and poor. Lagers generally have no life probably due to the detergent used when washing the glasses. s4achair - 20 Apr 2008 12:12 |
Went back to this pub on saturday to watch the england game. Drank in the bar which was packed, and had a brief word with the licensees. They seemed fine to me, and had even done chip butties for half time. Beer was ok, locals were friendly so my opinion has risen somewhat. Was still there till about eightish, and it did thin out a bit, lounge was pretty empty. Overall, not a bad afternoon tho'. Brummyboy - 12 Oct 2006 16:49 |
