In recent months this pub has transformed itself, it now has a great Japanese menu, pool table comfy sofas and a good range of bottled ales. One to watch!! Bojo2323 - 29 May 2012 17:51 |
Dropped into this pub recently, what a complete and utter disappointment. Immediately entering the place you were hit by the very strong smell of backed up toilets. Dirty glasses, dogs asleep on the tables and a collection of oddball customers that would not look out of place amongst the cast of Shameless. Could not wait to leave. Such a shame from what the place used to be. jd99 - 21 Jun 2011 19:59 |
Quite nice interior and friendly staff but no real ales on, pretty much a Guinness or lager kind of place. Food was overpriced for what you get. tonyandrachel - 15 Jan 2011 15:05 |
Was aware of this pub for ages, cycling past it twice a day along the Hertfor Union Canal. For some reason I thought it would be pretty horrrible, but went in there the other day and was pleasantly surprised. Nice location by the canal and by Victoria Park, friendly staff and a BBQ outside when I was there on a Saturday. Greshon - 21 Jun 2008 14:19 |
A quality boozer on the edge of Victoria Park, although perhaps not one for people who like rotating guest taps of real ale, or those who are afraid of others who use the F word every other time. I frequent some of the other pubs on there that are regularly (by which I mean more than a dozen times a year) voted in the top 10 on here, and this ranks amongst them. A hidden gem - a rough diamond. Genuinely an old-style, bona fide east end pub without the nastiness others may have come to expect from this neck of the woods. I was in there today and the landlord (Sean) won one a punt on the feature race at Glorious Goodwood and bought the pub a pint. For a pub of this class, I doubt many can say they have this essence of atmosphere. 10/10 buzzard1 - 4 Aug 2007 17:14 |
