Called only The Wig now. Visited twice. Had a keg pint of Caledonian Rare Red here the first time, a couple other keg beers the second time. Unfortunately no cask ales available any more. Not a place to search out, but nice enough to pop in for a pint. Sigmund - 30 Aug 2017 17:36 |
Now renamed the Wig Bar & Kitchen. This pub sits back from the road at the corner of Union St and King St. Regular modernised interior, friendly welcome, my pint of IPA was £3.50 which I thought was a tad steep. Only 1 ale on tap which was fine. Football on the tele's but on mute. No food served on a Sunday though the menu says "food served everyday" lezford - 28 Jan 2013 13:55 |
Been a while since I was in here and last time they had about half a dozen hand pulls all reasonably kept. Last night, went in to get out of the rain and cos I could hear a band playing. The ban were dreadfull and too loud and the beers have gone. Settles for McEwans export which is routinely a good pint badly served. When I was handed an ice cold glass, it was bad news. So...seems like the Wig's about to get a big new rufurb, they're trying to get it back up to standard, seems there's already a Grammy nominee coming to do a gig, think I might check them out again. yakhar - 15 Aug 2010 12:07 |
Admittedly it was the 2008 version but was saddened to find no real ale on offer after finding this place through the good beer guide. I did pick up a copy of CAMRA's "North Sea Ale" in the pub to read so obv just having a bad day i hope.I opted for a pint of Sbow(2.40) instead. The pub itself was a nice traditional local boozer with friendly quick service, 5/10 fat_beer_badger - 10 Jul 2010 21:34 |
