| I thoroughly agree with the previous reviewer. This is easily the best pub in town. It enjoys a pleasant location overlooking the cathedral and the interior is a lovely, cosy, single room that was quite busy on our late Sunday afternoon visit. Live Premier League football was being shown on the TV. Ales were Greene King IPA, Ruddles Best, Williams Brothers Seven Giraffes, Broughton Greenmantle 70/- & Strathaven Clydesdale IPA. The barman was friendly and knowledgeable. I opted for the Greenmantle and without prompting, he asked if I was a CAMRA member and then gave me a discount off my ale. A very nice touch indeed. | This is the jewel in Dunblane and leaves the other pubs in its wake. Unlike the Dunblane Hotel it is open all day and has 5 real ales available for customers at any one time. Has a blackboard giving details of what is being poured and what is due to be served next. Only serves toasties so if you are looking for anything more substantial you are going to be out of luck. | As a follower of Thistle, I'd have bought jagsfan a beer had we overlapped in our visits. Lovely and comfortable pub on a street corner opposite the cathedral and close enough to the station to make a foray when travelling by train. There were four Scottish beers on for my last visit, from Williams Bros, Caledonian, Harviestoun and Kelburn, served by the friendly barman and with chatty locals. | Heard about this pub from the Folk in Scotland website. They have a folk evening each Tuesday. Music is traditional in nature and the group is very welcoming. Our first visit to Scotland and we really enjoyed the night. nightowldisco - 23 Oct 2009 18:26 |
