Went in here on a Saturday early evening. Good laid back atmosphere except for a few loud and foul-mouthed drunks who had probably overstayed their welcome following a lunchtime footy game on TV. Harveys stout was an excellent find, and soaking up the sun in the decent sized garden was a treat after the dreadful rain. tewey99 - 5 Apr 2010 22:30 |
Marginally better than The Alexandra across the road. It was slightly busier in here. Friendly service again. Harveys appeared to be available. But no sign of the Stowford Press cider (it may have been in the other bar). The Sunday lunches didn't look too appealing. The weakly meat raffle was slightly more appealing. But we decided to head for the beach instead. Wouldn't hurry back in a hurry. blue_scrumpy - 2 Jun 2009 22:00 |
This pub is ok with a general mix of characters from chavs to rockers that all seem to get along. The staff are very friendly and the beer is good, although only Harveys was on during my visit. There are another couple of pumps, but these were either off or unused. There is also a selection of standard lager available alongside Stowford Press Cider. The pub is quite large with a dining type area, that was closed during my evening visit, that comes off one of the bar areas. This side had an excruciatingly loud karaoke machine playing with some dreadful drunk singers so I upped sticks and went to the more civilised bar around the other side. This bar has a couple of plasmas, a pool table and bar billiards. There is also a beer garden out the back and the bus stop is directly outside the front door. I think that the 7.8 rating is a little flattering, although I wouldnt mind if I had to go back to this pub. Strongers - 6 Jan 2009 16:21 |
Has this pub closed down? Last time I went by it was closed on a Friday night. anonymous - 12 Jul 2007 03:26 |
I was disappointed to find only the Sussex Best available. On previous visits there was a better choice. However, no complaints about the quality of the beer or the friendliness of the pub. southdown12jack - 9 Jul 2007 10:27 |
