Basic pub, no real ale, not impressed. hollybush33 - 11 Feb 2018 16:30 |
Historic in that it staged the first 'Sussex Bar Billiards Open' 18 years ago. Huge inside and had a really nice atmosphere as I recall. tommo5 - 9 Aug 2011 22:20 |
We visited this pub over the weekend and found it very friendly, and down to earth which I think is missing in a lot of pubs today, Tracy (the Landlady) was extremely friendly and very hard working, kept a very clean bar and acknowledges all her customers and knows who and when arrive she works like a trojan. Customers were also very friendly and wasn't deterred by the fact we were complete strangers, it is a working persons pub and we had an excellent time, there are two tv's one in the bar and the other through another room, which we commandeered to watch the horseracing. I give our thanks to Tracy for running such a brilliant pub with superb bar snacks. samann5862 - 17 Oct 2010 23:41 |
I live in town centre but visited this pub last week to meet some friends. It was full of screaming kids, liverpudlians who were swearing loudly and some dodgy looking characters. We left quickly after a swift half. What are kids and babies doing in a place like this (apart from sharing lots of crisps and pizza!) - the language was disgraceful. Avoid at all costs and watch your personal belongings. The only good point was the woman who was serving seemed friendly. However if you are easily offended by language i would give it a very wide birth. skippybn21 - 1 Mar 2010 08:59 |
This is a big old Victorian boozer like many others in Eastbourne. It feels pretty rough and ready with a pool table in one corner, a piano in another and CCTV pointing in every direction. The barmaid was very friendly, but there is only a limited selection of standard lager available. There is a TV in the centre of the room that was showing the formula 1 whilst I was there. There were also some free chicken legs lying around the bar, but the locals didnt touch them so I gave them a wide berth. Id probably not go back in as the Marine is across the road and the Back to the Old Skool nights arent really my cup of tea anymore, but they do explain the CCTV. Strongers - 13 Aug 2008 08:00 |
