Possibly the worst pub I've ever drunk in. The main room was closed for a function so I can't comment on that but we ended up in the front bar. Ordered two pinot grigios, a glass of soda water, a fosters and a lager shandy...the soda water was poured into the wine and the barwoman thought we'd ordered a large brandy...Only three other people in there, the music (mainly hardcore punk...which I quite like but isn't to everyone's taste) was at full blast. We asked for it to be turned down, which it was, but then turned up again five minutes later. The wine was passable but the Fosters was bad (and Fosters is poor at the best of times). Its probably fine if you're there with a load of mates and the whole pub is open but if you're not a local and you're there with anyone who isn't keen on something rough and ready then I'd avoid it like the plague mikecoxon - 8 Oct 2012 14:34 |
This pub has had a bad reputation for a long time. My girlfriend's mum and dad have even walked out from this pub as it seemed there was hardly any beer on tap or food available. But when we heard about the two for one offer, my girlfriend and I thought we'd give it a try. Before we arrived, we telephoned to confirm the offer and if they had steaks. This was confirmed by a member of staff over the phone. We arrived to find out that the steaks had been sold out, there was no Kronenburg and even no slices of lemon for the drinks. A number of puddings were also not available. Our chicken wings starter arrived without plates and cutlery. The main meal chicken which was supposedly a large portion was in fact one small breast cut into two pieces to appear bigger. Even though it was two for one, we felt the value wasn't there, service wasn't good and generally a poor experience. We will not go there again. This is a McMullen pub and it shows. I have also been to the Bulls Head in Turnford and even though the service was attentive the food was pretty average. Twice we have ordered the garlic and lemon main chicken dish to find it was just plain roasted. McMullens need to improve service and quality. I would not recommend any of their pubs. happymuchingpig - 1 Mar 2010 22:07 |

Every time I go into this pub there is a problem. I have visited a few times because my friends live locally, otherwise I would avoid it like the plaque. Ther was only 7 of us having dinner, we were told that we could not have dessert as 7 other people were coming in for dinner and we would have to wait up to 40 mins. Our own dinner took nearly an hour to arrive. No wonder the pub is dead, the staff have no personality which is no surprise considering the management. anonymous - 28 Sep 2007 17:26 |
