Reopened as Quayside Bar today at 16:00. Run by young couple who used to run a pub in the Midlands. Pub has been refurbished. It is in a prime location with a view of the bay. Not doing food until January. Serving draught beer from Studland Brewery. I had half a Studland Wrecked. Robin_from_Swanage - 22 Dec 2012 18:31 |
Mowlem restaurant has been sold and is due to reopen in Easter 2012. In excellent location with magnificent sea views. Potentially an excellent pub Robin_from_Swanage - 12 Nov 2011 21:32 |
Mowlem has closed. It is in a superb location next to beach. If someone served good beer there with reaonably priced food he could not go wrong. 20 years ago you needed to get there by 12:00 to get a window seat and you needed to book in advance for an evening meal in the restaurant. Changed its name and under new management, but judging by letters in the local press and other reviews online nothing much has really changed. jdb1 - 20 May 2010 16:13 |
It looks a bit tatty but don't be put off. We drank downstairs - Badger Best was very good - and sat outside overlooking the sea. We also ate upstairs a couple of times -the food was good, service was efficient and pleasant and the views over to the Isle of Wight were lovely. If you are keen on interior design then it leaves a lot to be desired. Plush red seating and a 60's feel. I quite liked it - ah nostalgia, it reminds you of holidays with your parents. chick - 4 Jun 2008 10:18 |
