Good bar staff, excellent ploughmans lunch and a good pint of Proper Job! Loads of parking, this is more of a restauranty pub than a beer pub although they did have Betty Stoggs aswell. Bernie5 - 10 Feb 2013 14:14 |
Interesting conundrum for me..... Staying in one oaf the ajoining cottages.... Can a pub be too close tqo home? Yes it can, as we dont get there until the last day. Very much a food pub by the layout with every table catering for eaters. Had a decent pint of betty stogs. Mappiman - 20 Aug 2011 13:07 |
Friendly pub and a good pint. boyjanner - 14 Jul 2010 23:36 |
Brilliant staff, always very warm and welcoming and friendly. A great pub - the bar is excellent, with big spacious tables and loads of interesting memorabilia to browse. The food is lovely, but I do have a couple of points.... 1. the menu doesn't change very much - we were staying locally and at the end of a long day out didn't want to have to get back in a car to go eat. the menu became monotonous by the middle of the week. 2. frozen chips!! Fabulous steaks spoilt by frozen chips! On the plus side: 1. Guest beers were great, and the Cornish Knocker was particularly well recieved. 2. The t-bone steak was the best I have ever had........including my own!! If you are in the area, call in, you won't be disappointed, a great, traditional, country pub with great people, great beers, great food and a great atmosphere! MrsDR - 3 Jul 2010 17:59 |
Good food if a little expensive for a pub (15.50 for a rump) - I wonder if the prices go up in August. Worth booking in summer as this is a popular place. Excellent range of well kept beers eg Adnams Regatta as guest and the usual Doom Bar and other local brews. Very good rapid service. All round worth a visit, and somewhat better than other pubs in the area. Tiny terraced old miners cottages at the back are for rent - very cosy and handy for the pub! Jack_Boc - 3 Aug 2009 22:27 |
