Another family birthday so we booked a table for 8 on a Saturday lunchtime. Always good food, good beer choice and extremely good service…this occasion was my Mother in Law’s 80th birthday and the staff all gathered to sing Happy Birthday for her which was a lovely touch. My beer choice was 2 pints of Brakspear’s Bitter which was poured perfectly and allowed to settle before being brought to the table. One slight complaint was that there were a couple of slightly dirty knife and forks laid for dinner, as soon as I asked for them to be changed they were. The family love it here and it’s worth a visit for a meal or just for a drink, always at least 3 ales on and the usual European lagers. lezford - 28 Jul 2014 13:18 |
Over the last 3 years I have eaten here many times, the last time being 2 weeks ago. Never any complaints about the food or service. Good value food, cooked and served correctly. Always at least 3 ales on draught and normally 1 of them is from a random brewery. Decent pub restaurant that is defiantly more of a restaurant but worth stopping off for a meal. lezford - 9 Aug 2013 16:06 |
This restaurant/pub has had a mixed past. Sometimes the food is fine, but we waited over an hour for our food one Sunday about a month ago - simply not good enough. Now I have seen how some of the staff are treated, this one is definitely off the list ! Stevie_Ray - 10 Dec 2012 22:48 |
What a great pub, the food is excellent and a great choice of real ales. The atmosphere is always warm and welcoming and the staff are efficient and friendly. The current manager is doing a great job and the pub is the best it has been since changing from a beefeater. mumstheword - 28 Feb 2011 12:29 |
Last came to this pub over 25 years ago, when it was a Harvester, Beefeater or something like that - Vintage Inns now. We ordered a mixed grill between us as usually pub mixed grills are too big for one each - but not this one! For nearly 15 I expected a biggun! but to be fair, what it lacked in quantity it made up for in quality. Excellent food beautifully cooked. Beer was good too, Sharp's "Doom Bar" - very well kept. steambeer - 23 Jun 2010 20:13 |
