Hasn't been a Wetherspoons for a year, or so. tradervic - 12 Apr 2020 13:38 |
Open plan Wetherspoons in the centre of Caversham. It was fairly busy. But staff were handling the volumes with ease. Ales were Loddon Reading Best & Cadogan Gold, Greene King Abbot & Ruddles Best, Three Castles Lightening & Adnams Nils Oscar. Ciders were Westons Wyld Wood & Gwynt y Ddraig Black Dragon. Parking can be difficult around here. But there is a pay and display car park outside the rear exit that is free after 3pm. A better than average 'spoons. blue_scrumpy - 7 Mar 2015 21:56 |
worst spoons in berkshire. especially that willy woofter barman come from monks; right toerag if ever there were one. chelsea_greg - 7 Mar 2013 14:13 |
Continues to offer far and away the cheapest beer in Caversham (1.99 a pt, at the time of writing, for "normal" beers). Still has all the charm of a dentist's waiting room but hey, at that price we can live with it. A couple of the staff border on ESN but as long as they can pull a pint and don't shortchange me that's OK. dromdick - 12 Jul 2012 20:23 |
This is my local Wetherspoons and has been said it is smaller and much more friendly than some of the larger Spoons bars around. There are usually 3 guest beers plus the regular Cadogan's Gold (which everyone now knows is actually Loddon Brewery's Ferryman's Gold under another name - but still a good pint of Golden Ale notheless). It serves the standard Wetherspoons menu which although perhaps not Egon Ronay quality is good value for money (where else can you get a breakfast for 3.10?). Good mix of customers - the pub is often used as a meeting place for a drink before going off to one of the many restaurants in Caversham (especially at the weekend). Buses2/22/24 & 800 will take you from Reading town centre but on a good day it is a pleasant walk across Reading Bridge and through the park to the Baron Cadogan - or Brown Cardigan as it is locally known - (via The Fox & hounds and Clifton Arms on your way perhaps?) mcroyal - 5 Apr 2012 22:07 |
