| This is now a private house and is no longer a pub. I know because I own the building. The official and legal change of use has been granted. The White Horse passes into history. The building is being refurbished and brought back to its former glory. The pub sign will remain because I like it and I want to respect its former history and the buildings heritage. | The previous landlord of this pub left three weeks ago and it is now under new management. It has returned to its former self and drinkers are now welcomed back into this lovely country pub, now serving food to all and sundry and not just the 'middle class'. The Cock is indeed still open. It was sold by the brewery and is now a free house, I'm told. I have not visited the Cock since the change but the beer was excellent during the interim period. CliffordAlls - 19 Jun 2013 06:16 |
| Presumptive reviews on this site make me laugh, especially when months later they are shown to be untrue...it's Feb 2013 and The Cock at Broom is still open... The White Horse is now predominantly a food pub, and what's so wrong with that when the food is as good as what is on offer there? Piping hot, locally produced, home-made food and service with a smile is the name of the day here now. The menu isn't huge but the Landlord is aiming to have a small selection of well produced meals rather than a menu that tries to cater for everyone's tastes. This place is aiming for the middle class food trade from nearby towns such as Biggleswade and Bedford and it has certainly made a head start at this. I would certainly recommend this pub as a great place for both couples and groups to head if they want good food in pleasant surroundings.
