A serviceably enjoyable local that is just down the road from Abingdon United's teeming arena, this place has friendly service and a good range of beers and ciders. Abingdon itself is a slightly disappointing town that probably punches below its weight given its natural advantages - nearness to Didcot cannot help - but this is one of a cluster of highly acceptable locations in which to wile away your time. have to change my mind compared to my previous review (and after 5 years of going there every monday). "New" owners are friendly and welcoming, and so are the locals. Food is so-so, we had a christmas do there and they couldn't cope with the numbers. Great chips though and good beer. One of the last "proper" pubs in Abingdon peteathome - 14 Oct 2010 20:27 |
the best range of ciders I've ever seen in Abingdon! In bottles they had Brothers, Thatchers, and I think some Weston's too. Draught was the usual Strongbow, but you can't have everything! It's always been a nice pub, and now there's more reasons to drink there! clockworkpurple - 24 Jul 2008 15:38 |
Pub changed hands recently (some folks from the nearby Boundary house). Still an OK local pub with a variety of beers but landladies not as welcoming as the previous owners peteathome - 11 Dec 2007 20:03 |
Always nice to go in and buy a decent pint, sadly not as often as I like now as I have moved from Abingdon. Liam has a nononsense aproach to keeping his beer. Michelle is very friendly, a great pub enviroment and as mentioned it may take a little time to get in the "Click" ( not all the bad)....what are you waiting for only another 15 years to go. adam2672 - 21 Jun 2006 19:15 |
