Now called the Buttercross - was okay but did feel a bit like a smaller wetherspoons. Snarling_Mallard - 10 Apr 2016 16:13 |
Four Seasons closed in 2013 and re-opened as the Buttercross. Purchased by a small pub co from Fullers, so now a freehouse with 7 ales and 9 real ciders. Pub has been given a makeover (now slate black instead of white front), and spruced up internally with lots of breweriana and old photographs of the town - check out the over-sized Bass mirror hanging in the upper snug level. Beer condition can be a little inconsistent, can't comment on the ciders as can't stand the stuff personally! BreweryBird - 10 Dec 2014 21:09 |
A vaguely tolerable place. The punters were mildly amusing. The beer had a slight taste of having been rolled down the A4 from Chiswick. Tigos - 9 Mar 2013 11:23 |
The Four seasons an old building OK from outside, decorated inside in corporate crap trying to look like an old pub style. It seems to run on an idea of constant karaoke, loud discos, and terrible music. The few times we have been there its been awful, definitely the ageing alchoholics pub of choice in the day, and the loud kev and sharon crowd in the evenings. The service is OK, the cleanliness is OK , apart from the gents which needs work. Never have wanted to eat there so cant really say what the food is like , but I cant imagine eating in that atmosphere to be honest. Needs a lot of work to bring this up to any standard I would visit regularly. jonnyboy012 - 1 Jan 2010 13:25 |
I hadn't been to Chippenham before yesterday and at lunchtime I found it a bit odd that there seemed to be so few pubs in the town centre. This place was there so I gave it a go, although I would have preferred a pub serving a more locallly-brewed beer (this is a Fullers house). The London Pride was okay and it was a surprise to be asked if I wanted it served in a jug or a straight glass (a choice not normally offered these days). There were some people having a good old laugh in one part of the bar and/or they were quite drunk. There weren't many customers otherwise but the place was friendly enough although quite gloomy away from the windows. Ordinary - 1 Oct 2009 23:00 |
