Nice olde gaff in undemonstrative setting. Must try the tasty-smelling grub next visit. FannyBlancmange - 5 May 2014 14:14 |
It took us a while to find it but we finally discovered it was right smack in front of Southport's Catholic church, which is also well worth a visit .As is our want, we soon got into conversation with the landlord, a charming, erudite gentleman who soon served up two smashing pints, one the Banks mild and the other a perfect pint of Theakston. We ordered lunch, which turned out to be quite a feast. Several pints later we set of to the smallest pub in the world only to find, to our chagrin ,that it had gone bust. No matter, we just retured to the Windmill as nature was calling and had a couple of more pints before catching the train back to Liverpool shouldersarms - 31 Mar 2014 15:29 |
hello, finally been able to get in touch with you, after all the rigmaroll. called in with my father, partner and myself. had drinks and food. Beer was lovely, steak which my partner ordered well done was cooked to my liking, which was still red/bloody. I ordered fish, which my partner ended having even though it was a frozen fish and chips, which were out of an Iceland packet of frozen chips My father had a mixed grill which he enjoyed. Why can't they have the same outlook with their fish as they do with the steak. scottthebrick - 11 Mar 2014 21:12 |
Pleasant pub on a street between Lord Street and the Promenade. There were only 3 other customers in on my Boxing Day lunchtime visit. But the 2 staff members were busy chatting away in the kitchen. Maybe that's why there were few customers. 3 ales were on - Banks's Original & Theakston Best & XB. Lacked atmosphere due to the paucity of customers. blue_scrumpy - 28 Dec 2012 22:33 |
Marvellous boozer - a touch olde worlde - but that's my thing. Wonderful selection of reasonably-priced drinks, enormous portions of tasty food, friendly staff and engaging regulars. Yogbeer - 6 Jul 2012 22:38 |
