I used to live a mile or so from the County Arms pub. I spent many a night in there with my dad and neighbours and friends of all ages. It was such a great well run pub. Murrey and Mary the Landlord& Lady kept the place spotless and there wasn't ever any trouble.
The beer was great andFriday / Saturday and Sunday lunchtimes the place was always packed. - This was back in the early 1980's.
I came back to the area a few times in the 90's to visit the inlaws and the pub had really changed - basically it became quite a scummy sort of threatening place with mouthy off-putting clientel.
The demographic of the local population had changed into non pub goers and as such the pub withered away ..I have real pangs of pain thinking of the great nights in there with friends and family that will never happen again. A postumous rating of 10 out of 10 for my drinking time in the Arms as a late teen early twentysomthing

Drove past on 17-12-2010. It looks like they are demolishing the old pub. No chance of that one re-opening.
It always did blow hot & cold. Banks was the only decent beer on offer and depending on who was running the place the food could be good or bad...A few years back they ran a good and cheap carvery and then a new manager came in and the food was awful...That's the last time I ate there and that was about three years ago.

Not great I'm afraid. I didnt try the Banks bitter and didnt really have anything else so I went for a Kronenberg which I got served eventually after the bird behind the bar who icidentially had a face like a slapped arse told me that they didnt do it. I simply smiled and told her to look at the front of the tap in front of her.

Pub felt very depressing and had a bit of a down and out feel about it. A table in the corner has people that looked like they were extras from the Film Deliverance.

My friend drove past this place the other day and said that the Pub had closed down. If it is to re-open and I hope it does as too many pubs are closing, then it could definitely do with a little TLC.

A large pub (circa 1930?) with good car park but all doors locked except the one at the front. Once you get in the place is very down at heel and the staff very "couldn't care less". Banks's bitter on hand pump unremarkable, one would not want a second pint.

Gent's toilets awful.

Banks bitter was drinkable but unremarkable. A rather down at heel depressing feel to this place. Sort of place that you feel you need a wash after visiting.
