Good pub with a great range of cask beers to suit all tastes but expensive! – a pint and a glassful of peanuts was £5.79, a very dear way of buying nuts which I will avoid in future. This practice is becoming increasingly commonplace with little choice. vladtheimbiber - 10 May 2013 18:12 |
Previous unfavourable comments about staff appear to have been heeded. Couldn't fault them during a four hour visit for a graduation celebration and same applied to the excellent range of well-kept beers. Decent bottled stuff and Fentiman's soft drinks underlined the concentration on quality and the food (in plentiful portions) was first-class and good value for money. The atmosphere in late afternoon and early evening was cheerful and lively and the only regret I had on leaving was that I live an hour's travel away from a pub I would happily have as my local. First time I went in Lescar was about 10 years ago - it was a dive, never felt 100% safe there and I stopped going. Last year I went there again. It has changed so much and I do mean for the better. They have a very good selection of drinks and the food is great, it's a little bit pricey but it's worth it. Nice crowd of people, Hunters Bar is a nice area and the regulars are a mix of students and young proffesionals, always a good atmosphere. Good size beer garden. Only complaint is some of the bar staff (not all) can be a bit moody and when it's busy (and it does get busy), it can take a long time to get served. Chris_1982 - 20 Nov 2009 14:05 |
Food was fantastic, atmosphere is nice, but the staff....jesus, were the mardiest, rudest people I've ever come across. I've just assumed I've been unlucky up until now with mardy staff here but the other week took the absolute biscuit. When I pay 7.90 for a sunday roast, I expect it to be what I ordered, and when it isnt, (they sent the complete wrong meal) I expect an apology. What I got, was a look as if I'd killed a puppy, as the waitress stormed into the kitchen and a grumpy 'sorry about that' followed by an uncovnincing (probably mandatory) 'is everything ok with your meal?' Proper shame, food was tasty and the DJ was spinning Nightmares on Wax in the sunshine, ruined a decent afternoon. CUSTOMER SERVICE TRAINING! Sort it out! thinkworm - 17 Aug 2009 11:46 |
