Uhmm.. Not too impressed. Looks fantastic from the outside and in prime location. Inside, there is a nice bar for drinkers and then a cavernous room for eaters - surprisingly complete with the only TV with the football on. So you get loads of fans at the bar, with everyone else eating underneath. And the eating. Simple fare, reasonably priced but I just hate places that serve you food and then tell you where to find the cutlery and condiments. Surely its part of the experience to be given a knife and fork with your meal. Interesting pint of Theaskston black mild. I hadn't read the smallprint. Mappiman - 26 Jan 2014 14:10 |
It`s had a `refurb`, I couldn`t see the difference! Had Hopback Summer Lightning on..peachy! Menu looks better. Blastbeat - 29 Aug 2013 14:05 |
Looking at the previous comments nothing much has changed with this pub over the last couple of years. Good cheap beers, average grub, good service, nice ambience when it`s not full of noisy overactive `students`, sports on the TV...special promotions which make it cheaper than the JWD`s....all round recommended venue Blastbeat - 3 Sep 2012 16:06 |
The two room layout works well: smallish dark room up front for drinking and talking with the big room in the back for sports and food. Good prices. Can be full of kids at times though. mrfalafel - 25 Feb 2009 13:31 |
