Disappointing Shepherd Neame pub. 4 pumps for cask beers but only 1 had beer. Stale and lifeless Spitfire at £4.30 @ pint. Luckily there was Guinness and bottles of Newcastle Brown.
Won’t be hurrying back.

A good shaped pub with loads of room. Not a great selection of Ales on tap, in fact pretty poor. Very much a local pub, and a shame that they all insist on hanging around the bar making it difficult to get to it. A shame as there's so much other space to use. Twats like that should be dealt with by the bar staff better.

I used to visit this pub on a regular basis, straight after work on a Friday night. Appears to be a popular 'after work' pub, always busy at that time - good atmosphere. Classy bar, conservatory with pool table and a lovely beer garden. Plenty of seating area in this pub, including sofas. During the summer months, BBQ's are held in the garden as well as other garden activities, table tennis, football table etc. TV's in the pub for sports fans. Have only eaten here once, a delicious steak lunch on a Saturday afternoon

After a few years of regularly changing landlords and barmaids we got some much needed stability and the old city found it's lost mojo. After a couple of visits staff would recognise you and you became one of the happy nuclear family. All change- the roundabouts started up again. Charles the errant landlord has even started to pull a few pints himself.the barmaids appear to have forgotten about the regulars. Any music that's not "heavy metal" is instantly ejected from playing on the juke box. The bar is regularly full of unwashed glasses,I think it's time to look for somewhere different until someone realises it's not there just for the staffs' enjoyment, someone bear us customers in mind too

For some reason, 'listless' was the word that came to mind here. The pub generally was somehow listless, the Adnams was listless, and the barchild would probably have been listless on a good day.
Most of all I liked the poster (one of these mass-produced ones that are intended to be funny but never are): "Hot beer, Lousy food, Bad service. Welcome!". When it's that close to the truth, it's probably best taken down quietly ;-)

It might be the pub nearest my house which makes it my regular haunt, but it's also the best pub in the city for those who don't want something too loud and who don't want to spend 10 minutes waiting to get served.
Brendan, the Kiwi managing the place at the moment, is a good egg and they'll always put the football on for us sports obsessives.

i last went to this pub about 3 years ago, used to live a few doors down from it on old dover road. beautiful garden, decent beers, rugby and cricket more than a football pub. it's also tucked away a little, so avoids a lot of the student drinkers from the 2 unis. in fact, seeing this pub on here has triggered off so many happy memories, i may go there next weekend!

A real pub with a real atmosphere, nothing fancy, just a good old fashioned pub with good beer and a friendly service. Love it.
