Having experienced the Pub through various landlords/landladies I think that making it a carvery was a good idea. As already said it does exactly what it states on the box. Food is okay, beer is good and the staff are friendly. The type of place I might go to after that Saturday night to refuel and avoid cooking. What I do like is being able to mix and match, order a starter from the menu, hit the carvery and finish with a pudding. It was never going to be a fine dining restaurant. Thumbs up.

Sorry you lost me at "Carvery Pub".

Thought we'd try out the "all new" Pheasant, after it's recent refurbishment and re-branding as a "Carvery Pub". In a nutshell, it does what it says on the tin. A decent carvery meal at a very reasoable price, with a reasonable selection of beers to wash the food down with. You probably wouldn't choose it as a romantic meal for two venue, but if you want a decent roast with the family it will tick all the boxes.

Nice pub, very friendly staff and lovely sunday dinner! Reasonable prices! This pub has become much better recently since being under new management i believe!

i agree with nrb1955 this is a great pub with very friendly staff, the food was very good and at a reasonable price with very nice surrondings.

Average food albeit pricey! Ok drink selection, tired surroundings & very rude staff is my take on the place! Avoid!!

Never eaten there, but always found it to be clean, nice decor, decent drinks, good staffing , and prompt and friendly service. Could do with being made to slightly less shop like, needs something a little more interesting i terms of look and feel , but not terrible.

I completely disagree with the recent comments about this pub: it is excellent. The staff are friendly, willing, helpful and competent, despite us being a party of seven people, three of whom are variously disabled. Nothing was too much trouble and everything was done with a willing smile. The menu was nicely judged and the food well-prepared, tasty, good value and served promptly and efficiently. It is rare indeed for me not to find something to critices about any establishment, but I could find no fault with our experience. I would recommend it wholeheartedly - you will not be disappointed.

Absoutely awful! Will vow never to eat here again and to advise all I can reach in the world, exactly the same.

Pub is fine, but very very poor food, and not particarly cheap either. I will try and be concise and objective. (1) Pan fried duck (was ok) served on a cold salsa sauce that obviosuly came out of a jar. Acceptable for a dish that costs about 16? I think not (2) Vegetables - disgusting - cooked hours before and warmed up in microwave I suggest. Palid, insipid looking and colourless. (3) Chips simply undercooked - hard in the middle so inedible. Noticed a party at table next to us left large bowl of chips untouched. (4) New potatoes looked and tasted odd. Presumably warmed up again. (5) Item from the specials board avocardo/mozzarella tarte in filo pastry - sounded nice? - tasted very odd - never heard of this combination before? No! wonder why. Dish simply doesnt 'work'. Has the head chef actually been trained. Service friendly but pretty clueless (not unusual for Chippenham!) Not offerred a wine menu for example. Bill presented with 2 complimentary 'Foxes glacier mints' classy eh? Didn't complain as I simply couldn't be bothered for the sake of a few quid reduction at the cost of creating a 'scene' or having a confrontational conversation. Yes I know I should or they will never improve without bad feedback. Overall very very poor will even consider eating there again. Regards, Tim Smith.

There were ten of us altogether who went out for a birthday meal last night (29/11/06) and we all agreed that is was the worst meal that any of us have ever experienced at any other pub. After we had complained the manager said no charge for three meals and a round of drinks were free but I would never go back, unless it was under new management. The food was overpriced aswell.

Great tasting ales from Wadworths brewery. Great meal although little pricey

A good pub, heavily food orientated on the right hand side, left is more of a drinkers bar.

This is a great pub with great staff. The food is good and the service excellent. Although slightly expensive for a pub - cum- restaurant the quality and quantitity of food more than makes up for this.
