Bass and Pride. Solid looking building - has undergone an interesting refurbishment inside which has removed all original character, but has created a modern yet atmosphere. The conversion has used bare brick and large stone tiles to create texture and an awareness of the past. OK.

awful, chav-infested dump of a pub. cheap lager but it tastes poor at best.
|
Popped in one afternoon..could not relax as a bunch of load mouthed "Chavs" sitting around the bar. Shame as the pub looks the part from the outside but the days of it being the "in pub" are far gone.
|
Used to be great. (See Old Sugarloaf) now run down with chavs and hooligans with no shirts on swearing at the top of their drunken voices at the football on the tv. Ale is very poor, cheap wine is expensive. Only go in if you drink lager and you don't have a lady with you.

Dull. Three real ales available, but served in filthy glasses and either freezing cold or warm.

dull.

Dont know if he still goes in there but there used to be a guy called Geordie Ray. A man called Macdonald said Ray was a nutter and to stay clear. To my surprise I was having a beer and Ray was thrown out of the pub by one of the staff as he appeared to be having a go at three men sitting drinking minding there own busines. Macdonald said Ray has a drink problem and was barred from most of the boozers in Dunstable. However, the staff here appear to know what they are doing and the food is good.

The bar staff are definately not dull, they are always friendly and offer a great customer service experience. Its a great pub with a great atmosphere!

would be nice if it had customers and the bar staff wasn't so dull

Came to this place for Sunday lunch and loved it. Gorgeous! There's a nice choice of seating scattered about: leather sofas with coffee tables; dining tables with chairs; and stools. It was extremely tastefully decorated.
All of the staff were really friendly, too.
The food: I had the traditional roast beef lunch which was excellent - I cleared my plate! My friend had fish and chips which was disappointing cos it was that frozen angular shaped fish.
Highly recommended.

This pub has now reopened and is unrecognisable. Great place to avoid alcopop brigade and very relaxed. Good food and real ales. Good refurb and much needed in Dunstable.

This pub is now closed and soon to be turned into a horrid indian foodhole, yuk!

Does anyone know if Roy, the delightful (he does stinks though) Irish water spaniel still resides here. I remember feeding him Monster Munch back in 1999 and getting a right telling off from the Landlord. Haven't had the courage to venture back since.

A historic old coaching inn which, over the past decade or so, has reinvented itself as a noisy charmless hole for Dunstable's wretched drunken ratboys and girls. A place to avoid in Dunstable town centre of a weekend evening... actually, Dunstable town centre is best worth avoiding full stop.

The main attraction of this pub is the very cheap menu (including drinks.) Other than it is a pretty horrible place. The bar staff are grumpy, it smells of urine and their "beer garden" is a joke.
