The Tich is an excellent, friendly, well-staffed pub, with great beer & the usual Wetherspoon's value nosh! My friend & I ate there on Sunday afternoon, & the Xmas meal & a wrap meal including drinks was £11.48: superb!

I can see since I last left a comment things haven't improved. In the same transaction I was short changed and had an argument only to find I was right and then the barman refused to top up a pint that was about 85% full. I only go to this place because its my mates local and the beer is sometimes OK.

This pub has gone down hill a bit. Went in it yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to see Old Growler on draught except what came out of the pump was a pale colour when Old Growler is a dark porter type drink. Apparently this is not the first time that kind of a mix up has happened and obviously means you could end up drinking something much stronger than you think. After that disappointment I decided to have a pint of London Pride which was drinkable but a bit cloudy. Finally moved onto a pint of Abbots Ale which is a standard whetherspoons fayre and that was so cloudy I rejected it. I would advise anybody visiting this pub to be very cautious over their beer choice until things improve.

This Wetherspoons is easily the best Ickenham has to offer and this week was our third visit here. The interior is typical of Wetherspoons with an open-plan, a few fruit machines and TVs on mute. It was fairly busy. Beers on were Weltons Old Cocky, Wharfbank Slingers Gold, Greene King Ruddles Best & Abbot, Harviestoun Bitter & Twisted, Itchen Valley Pure Gold, Exmoor Beast & Moorhouses Pendle Witches Brew. The cider was Westons Vintage Organic. Worth a visit if you ever find yourself here.

One of Wetherspoons original pubs converted from an old garage. Quite small inside with seating on the pavement at the front. All the usual JDW offers but when we visited it was obvious something had gone wrong with the beer order as there should have been 5 guest ales but we ended up with just the one,so switched to wine instead. The pub was OK with footie fans and both our supporters and those from Swansea had no problems( apart from the final result!!) Buses stop right outside and there is a public car park by the library. Tube station is a 5 minute walk away and West Ruislip station is just around 10 minutes.

Went there yesterday for a Sunday roast and must say that I was very impressed. Meat was cooked perfectly and just the right amount.
The place had a nice relaxed feel to it and in response to previous comments about the atmosphere, it's a spoons!! You dont go there to listen to rave muzik or dance on the tables.
All in all, a pleasurable experience and would recommend this to anyone who lives in or passes through the area. The only thing that left me a bit surprised was that I heard that this pub always supplied ales from the fairly local Rebellion Brewery in Marlow however there was none to be seen

Not a bad pub and has usual good range of Wetherspoons beer. The best real ale tends to run out on a Saturday evening which is a bit frustrating and there is often not enough staff on when it is busy. Food is very hit and miss. One thing of note to CAMRA members is that a blackboard above the "empties" hatch states the pub is in the "Good Beer Guide 2011" - it was in the 2010 edition but failed to make the 2011 edition due to a fall in standards.

Standard Wetherspoons format (which I think is a good thing), interesting range of beers, comfortable surroundings, reasonably priced food. Not a destination pub of course, but if you're passing though then you can visit with confidence.

Not bad spooons, good range of ales when visited, nothing amazing though,7/10

This site used to be a petrol station. I think it still is.
|
Beer range and quality varies a great deal.

danmantanshameboutvan: - It might l o o k old, but I can remember when this was the site of a petrol station [Inward's, who had a site in Hillingdon, too] selling Esso petrol. My Dad paid 4/11d a gallon [ about 6p/litre!!!] for the equivalent of three star - and you could get a Tiger Tail. This jolly well does date me, doesn't it! I can't remember when this closed - but I don't think it was until at least the eighties, and m i g h t have been the early nineties.

This pub has a nice atmosphere and its a great hotspot for a night out in Ickenham. I would say it is a beautiful old looking place, but trendy at the same time. Lovely mix. The beer is cold...but so are their staff, not just to yobbish youngsters, but to some elderly people I know too. Also, they are way too strict in my opinion regarding ID and kicking people out at 9 etc. But lets not end on a low note, I'd reccommend the Tich to anyone who likes good drink and value for money dinners in Ickenham, Hillingdon, Uxbridge or Ruislip.

are you for real.. always find food superb and great value.. breakfast always good.. iwas in yesterday and didnt have prob with my breakfast.. that is not to say once i had a meal in there and found the food not as good as i would expect. however when brought to the attention of the staff they were most apologetic and coulodnt be anymore helpful.. unlike being made to feel like i was the one that made the mistake.

very disappointing indeed, a very cold plate and a very cold meal, very, very poor and to follow no brekfast could be served on the following morning , though it was only 11.45. Breakfast is available until 12.00 one is informed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LAST COMMENTS A LITTLE OUT DATED, THE TICHENHAM INN PROVIDES TV/FOOD/GOOD VALUE DRINKS, EXTENSIVE RANGE OF REAL ALES, THE DECOR MAYBE A LITTLE OUT DATED BUT HOWEVER THE CHARM OF THE STAFF ONLY ADD TO THE GREAT ATMOSPHERE, THIS PUB HAS CHANGED DRAMATICALLY OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS, GREAT TURNAROUND.. BEST OF ALL YOU GET SERVED QUITE QUICKLY..

Only used this for morning coffee - before the "Coach" opens. Pefectly civilised pub at that time.
|
Can't visit this place on a weekend without some idiot trying to pick a fight. This pub seems to attract a nasty weekend crowd. Shame really, as it's not bad in the week.
|
bit dull but cheap. Monday nights you can get battered with just 10 to your name - trouble is who gets hammered Mondays?

Like any Wetherspoons, its cheap and thats about all going for it. Ideal for starting point for big sessions as you can spend 10 and get about 53 drinks for it. But with no music/tv/proper atmos, its always going to be a no no in my opinion.
