Looking for somewhere to eat and drink after a long journey and saw this place, there were other families in their so decided to give it a try. Got a bottle of wine and soft drinks and then asked to order food. Knew it wouldn't be great food but burgers all round would do us. Asked if restaurant was still open and the answer was yes.
Then we got told we couldn't order food as we had children with us. wasted bottle of wine that then. and we left.

This place isn't great, the only bonus this bar has is the outside area located down below and is thus the only reason to go in there. Otherwise not that nice.

A students bar, but that's not all bad. It feels as if it is trying to bridge the gap between the traditional pub and a contemporary bar. Given the choice however, I would choose the Judges over the road every time.

Too many punters for me here. When we went, all cask ale choices were out. A definite negative. Typical plastic pub with very little character. I'd rather stick with the more traditional pubs around the area (Blue Bell, York Arms, Maltings, etc).

If you like the other varsity bars you have been in then you'll like this one. (In fact, if you like Yate's or Scream pubs, you'll probably like this place). They go for the cheaper end of the drinks range with discount cards, and a reasonable variety on the bar, (smooth bitters, lots of lagers and alcopops). They also serve food which is reasonable and looks decent. As mentioned the outside seating is certainly a bonus, however this is never going to be a regular calling point of mine.

Always a good place to begin a night out in York. Expect exactly the same as a normal Varsity, but with a nice outside area. Plush seating to relax in, plenty of tables to eat food, and at reasonable prices, too.

Quality! Well worth a visit and one of York's better places I feel! Great atmosphere, cheaper drinks (compared to London anyway, but then again where isn't!) and loads of female talent!
