lovely old pub but empty last sunday lunchtime because the sunday roast was the worst I have ever had, the roast potatoes and parsnip were deep fried the medley of "fresh" veg was over micro waved frozen value range supermarket veg, the beef whilst lots of it wasn't from an in house roasted joint, but served complete with gravy appeared to be preprepared frozen or boil in the birds eye style roast beef dinner, with every type of roast meat offered each plate must have been microwaved to order rather than any part prepared and cooked by a chef. However, the pub is lovely and the staff very pleasant even though they had nothing to do. This food oriented pub needs to look at the competion to understand why people have deserted this pub.

Not long ago was really nice and very popular - how times change! Has been allowed to steadily become a place to avoid.

very friendly staff, great food now, shame more local people cant support them. If we dont use them we loose them. The brewery should take the flack not the staff, I have always found them to be friendly and more then helpful.

All I can say is if you are an ale drinker give it a miss not enough custom to turn the beer around I used to drink between both henstridge pubs but no give the ash a miss.

This *used* to be one of the finest pubs/eating houses in South Somerset - Completely full at the weekend with happy people noshing away on mid-range traditional pub fare.
No longer.
It's a sad ghost of itself. Exterior is weedy, the hanging baskets are empty, needs work done indoors & out. Food is lamentable, the staff apathetic* and the whole place needs a good clean, in & out. It's so sad to see how it's declined.
*example: decided to try this pub for an evening drink with a friend. She asked for a pineapple juice. Cue half-assed looking. None available. She then asked for an orange juice. Cue more half-assed looking. None available! This was 8pm on a Saturday night.
There were about 7 customers - those banned from the other pub in Henstridge & those "youthful" looking types!
