Really surprised and happy to find the Steam Packet open again after so many years closed - 6 or 7 at least?
Went in primarily out of curiosity and were glad we did, the refurbishment has left the place fresh but without the plastic modern wine bar feel that seems to be the norm these days.
There were three ales on, Directors, Deuchars IPA and a localish brew Goldmarks - Liquid Gold which was really nice, well kept but not freezing cold - so top marks for that!
Had a couple of sandwiches, freshly made and served with a bowl of chips as well which were freshly made and good value. Will have to try a proper meal when we have more time.
All in all, for a place that's only been reopened 8 days it was very good.

Good news! The Steam Packet is re-opening for business on Thursday 23 May 2013. Good beer, good food, good old-fashioned pub.

surprisingly nice pub! its a great place for a drink during the day or if you fancy a quite one of an evening but thats not to say its dull. the bands on a sunday are great i was there one night when the Pitt sisters were on and they were fantastic! the landlord even does karaoke on a friday which is always great fun and has had someone else do it a couple of times for him which was just as great.
