I and 6 good mates drank here Thursday evenings to 11.00pmish and Sunday lunch from 1970 to 1976. It was run by the ever suffering landlord Ron Jeavons and his fiery buxom wife Doreen. We had the best Bass Charrington bitter ever. Sunday we got free roast spuds. I haven't been here 48 years. Is it different now? We used the right bar Thursday and Sunday the left one. A great pub all those years ago!

Now called the grumpy mole, good food but pricey.Beer ok.

A good sized pub just out of the centre of the town. The car park is adequate. The lounge is L-shaped, the left is reserved for pool and darts and the other side has a well laid out and comfortable lounge. Normally it has 2 real ales but only Sharps Doombar was on when I was there. However it is a good beer so I wasn't complaining! Although I wasn't eating the food seems reasonably priced. A nice friendly ambience and it is weel worth a visit.

Crying out for quality management.. should be a great pub.. but isn't.

very modest quality pub

Best pub in Cheam. If i had a pub and mike89 parked himself and his bike in the seating area without buying a drink, i'd probably tell him to f*** off aswell.

popped in here last week for a beer. the pub is serving food again which was a nice surprise and obviously not straight from the microwave like many of the chain pubs nearby. i had the steak & ale pie (made with the same doom bar ale served at the bar). only 2 ales but they seem well cared for. nice atmosphere.

was on charity bike ride and stopped in the outside seating area for a rest when the landlord came out and essentially told us to f*** off. if that's how they treat people raising money for charity i dread to think how they treat the usual punter. avoid at all costs.

the bar man Jon is amazing. he makes the bell what it is. if he got a hair cut he would get 10/10
but as it stands 9/10

Awfull pub with no decent beer and if you are not a regular then expect to wait a long time to be served
|
Very nice pub, cheerful landlady friendly efficient staff, and some interesting characters. Good beer, and the prices are reasonable (unlike in nearby Sutton, where EVERYWHERE is expensive). Food served, although I havn't tried it - yet. Two plasma screens showing sports events, etc. Live bands/singers sometimes at the weekend and Karaoke on a TUESDAY. Now that's a rarity. Some good singers there too. Even if you don't join in it's worth just going along to listen. See ya there.

Just started doing Sunday roasts,I'm sure people will be pleasantly surprised!
|
Great pub, great beer, great staff, well worth a visit. The Sunday lunch is a must

Staff are fine. Beers are OK, shame they stopped doing TEA (Traditional English Ale), haven't seen it anywhere else, if you do its a good session bitter. Layout and ventalation seems good, not too smokey, even with quite a few smokers.
