please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

First visit back to the Everyman since its re-opening. The Bistro is downstairs. Don't confuse it with the ground floor bar. There seems to be more of an emphasis on food now than before. There are only 4 handpulls now. 3 were in operation on my visit and the ales were Liverpool Organic Kitty Wilkinson Chocolate & Vanilla Stout & Everyman's Ale & Potbelly Pigs Do Fly. There is no longer any real cider. Didn't quite have the feel of the old Everyman. So it'll probably be a few more years before I'm back.

The rebuilding of The Everyman is finished and there is a Bistro there, but as it's a new building with different management the previous reviews have no relevance. In this area I recommend The Belvedere and The Caledonia for a quiet pint, and The Clove Hitch for a big meal with beer.

this place is a hole....literally. It has been demolished.

Closed on 2 July 2011 due to the theatre redevelopment.

Came here on 1st October for the Cider festival run in conjunction with the Belvedere. When I asked what ciders they had the barmaid pointed to the bottled ciders in the fridge (the usual Magners etc) and to the draught Thatchers Gold. So, it wasn't exactly a cider festival, so I downed my pint and got out of the place asap. (see my comments about the Belvedere!)

Was on a bar crawl last friday and started the night here. the things i look for in a pub is service, atmosphere and a quality pint an this place has all 3 and with the addition of quality locally sourced fresh food too.
Had 2 pints in here and a bit of pasta and both were superb. will definitly be returning soon.

I've always liked the Everyman Bistro, the atmosphere is friendly and very relaxed. The food is very 'samey' (quiche, pizza, salads) each time you visit but it's fresh and made on the premises. Prices on food are rising regularly and portions shrinking so meals are not what they were.
I was angry last time I visited with 3 friends. We sat down with our meals and was half way through when we were told (not asked) to move by a member of staff. When we asked why she replied 'we need this room, you'll have to find a table by the bar'. When we pointed out we were half way through our meal she said 'you can eat the rest of it by the bar'. She then moved from table to table telling diners the same thing. If the room had been booked for a function why hadn't they closed it before serving dinner? I was disappointed in her attitude and it spoilt our dinner. An email to the manager was ignored.
The Everyman Bistro has gone down in my estimation.

Extremely busy cellar bar/bistro. Very popular with theatre goers having a meal and drink before the performance. Lots of arty types in there as you'd expect. I liked it although it was nothing like a pub bar. It had lots of conversational buzz. Two beers were on handpull, both in good condition. Would like to go back and try the food which looked delicious and was good value for money.

This is one I missed last time I came to Liverpool so it was on my agenda for this time around and I wasn't disappointed. One reason was it serves food on a Monday. It was a clean cellar bar with a good selection of beers. We enjoyed our meal from a good range of foods available, and also enjoyed the Roosters Apres Ski (one I won't need from the Fleetwood festival list now) and the familiar Kelham Island Easy Rider. It did have a sort of canteen feel to it but this may be as it was nearly empty when we called and all the meals are visable in the kitchen area. Lacked atmosphere but not a bad bar to visit.

Not impressed with this place.

Went to the Cider festival here last Saturday. Was expensive, interior of pub/bar very dull (i.e. no daylight - due to no windows).

Was supposed to be a cider festival but I was the only person drinking cider. Was surrounded by lots of middle class people eating food, and upper class arty student type people.

Will give this place a miss in the future, mainly due to the lack of atmosphere and expensive prices.

Modern cellar bar under the Everyman Theatre that is very popular with a certain type and age of people, you know the type, over 50 but still think theyre trendy. The beers on offer on Saturday were exactly the same as reported by blue scrumpy over a month ago, so maybe they dont change much. I had a pint of the Betwixt Storr which was very good. Interesting lights and loads of cactuses? cactii? Either way theres a lot of them around. Theres also a function room which was hosting a 60th when we were there. The place was packed to the rafters and very, very noisy. Its OK in here though.

I found the Everyman a bit dull and uninspiring. It did have 3 real ales on - Betwixt Storr (actually a lager), Landlord and Cain's Bitter, in addition to a real cider - Weston's Traditional Scrumpy. There was also plenty of seating. But the fact it is downstairs means there is no natural light and the surroundings are fairly boring. Given the proximity of The Philharmonic, I doubt we'll be visting here too often in the future.

Housed in a cellar under the Everyman theatre at the catholic cathedral end of Hope St. Can get very busy but I managed a seat and a decent meal on a Thursday mid evening. Very pleasant York Guzzler as part of their range of well kept ales on the five hand pulls. I could have chosen Cains Bitter, Black Sheep Bitter or Leeds Samba in addition to the Guzzler, the fifth pull had Rosie's cider. Usual range of mediocre kegs plus Hoegaarden. There's a vaguely Spanish / Mexican flavour to the dcor, or maybe that's just the cactii in the alcoves, and some of the punters look and sound a bit yoghurt knitter. There is a wine obession on the blackboards advertising the drinks but it's not a bad place to eat and drink.

Friendly welcome, well-kept ales and interesing variety of tasty food offerings. Pleasant 'bier keller' type surroundings.

every man knows it's a decent place for a beer.
Can't remember the price range. 7/10

Reminds me of a German Bier Keller in the fact that you go downstairs into a large room with rows of wooden tables & a bar at the end. Its actually a very large place with 3 seperate rooms & one can be closed for private functions. The food is superb quality home cooked served buffet style with a large & varied menu to chose from. Great choice of local beers. Betwixt - Sunlight, Cains - Bitter, George Wright - Cheeky Pheasant & Brimstage - Trapper's Hat as well as continental lagers. Good mix of people but mainly students. I can highly recommend this place.

Had an OK pint of Cains Bitter here (though not a fan of their bitter per se). Buzzing atmosphere and very handy to go to just after midnight on a Friday night.

Unexpectedly brilliant bar that despite its setting (the basement of the Everyman Theatre) is an unpretentious welcoming bar that attracts one of the most wide-ranging clinetele of all the pubs and bars in the city. Great range of real ales that regularly change (though Taylor's Landlord seems to be on everytime I go in there). I seem to remember Hoegaarden on tap as well. Never eaten in here but the menu looks more appetising and hearty than most.

We had lunch here whilst killing a few hours in between arriving at John Lennon and catching a train from Lime Street.

Lots of grub to choose from, the quality of which was ok; though the cheesecake for pud was outstanding!

Plenty of real ale to choose from - if memory serves we went for Cains' Bitter which was excellent.

love the food love the atmosphere - love everything about it!

Decent place, nice wide-range of beers, and as mentioned nice food. However you will struggle to get a seat / table on Thursdays, Friday, Saturday or Sunday unless you camp there the night before! I`ve always ended up standing.

Decent foreign lagers on draught (Used to have a Hoegaarden-now I`ve moved on... )... Usually have a pit stop here as the food is spot on(good selection of food from a servery)...Usually a late 20`s /early 30`s agegroup.

Lovely food, friendly staff, I love it!

I really like it in here. Further to previous comments, this place has a chilled atmosphere and less annoyances than one may expect further down Hardman Street.

Often a long queue for the bar mind.

Late night drinking without wailing music and all the shit.

Underneath the Everyman Theatre (no disabled access), this bar has been an institution for over 30 years. Don't know if it's food is still renowned, but it's relatively cheap and it's always busy early in the evening. Food is sourced locally and delivered daily. Has 3 rooms, though one only opens when it is busy.

Usually has about four ales, including Cains, and usually Landlord and Black Sheep, and a few continental beers, and an impressive wine list.

This place used to be the trendy place years ago before Bar Culture took off but now it is a relaxed unpretentious place, open until midnight Mon - Wed, 1am on Thurs, and 2am on Fri and Sat, it's the best place to go for a late drink and conversation. It can get very busy at weekends and you may have to queue after normal pubs close.

I ended up moving into Liverpool City Centre just so that I could go to this place every night.
