Good local pub down by the sailing club. Always has several real ale pumps. Very crowded and lively Friday/Saturday nights and somehow manages to put on live music sometimes. Wear your grubbiest wooly jumper.

Good pub near to the harbour, good selection of real ale on offer which were in good condition, has a large outside drinking area out the back of the pub and also some undercover seating next to the toilets.

A good, busy pub aimed at drinkers more than anything, good service from the barstaff.

On our visit on a warm Saturday in May, the place was heaving with a rowdy wedding party. It felt like we'd wandered into a private celebration and ended up a rather uncomfortable experience, to be honest - being stared at is a bit 20th century. The beer was acceptable enough - Black Gold top draw - but really, I imagine that this place gets a lot of police visits if this is a typical afternoon's 'entertainment'. Good to see a pub busy though - can't knock them for that.

Pretty boisterous when I was in there on a Friday night but not aggressively so. Beer was ok and fine for Emsworth.

Attractive and friendly local's pub with beer from Fullers and guests(Osset Gold on my visit). Definately worth a go.

Reasonable enough busy pub had a decent pint in here but didn't find the locals particularly friendly - in a snobbish rather than rough house way.

Nice pub, decent enough pints, wish people down south would learn to use sparklers though, but still nice beer. Seemed frindly enough even to some norverners there just for the night, and we were made to feel very welcome by the staff and customers. Keep it up chaps

This has the feel of a thriving village local, and it's not hard to see why it is popular - a good choice of beers and frindly staff.

why do people like this pub?, overpriced food, very average fullers beers and very cramped

A proper village pub. Probably the best pub in Emsworth or even Hampshire. Quite small but with an good range of excellently kept beers and a range of Europiss and other drinks. Very friendly landlord and landlady and some lovely young girls also serving. Excellent food; check out their curry nights every Tuesday and other special themed food nights. Never any bad language or trouble; this is a pub for all-real drinkers, old boys, youngsters, families, wives and girlfriends

Great little pub, it takes a lot to get me into former Gales pubs (what they did with Gales brewery at Horndean is unforgiveable!) but still a warm welcome and well kept ales + decent priced food, a pub for all people and all seasons. Would have got rated 9 but for the Fullers "profit before people" policy.

This pub very small and a little unwelcoming. We missed the food service by being 1 minute late! Beers ok but just the usual Gales range.

Dan Cooke has just about covered everything but just to say that The Coal Exchange still has the usual range of Gales Ales but not surprisingly they have now been supplemented by Fullers London Pride and Discovery. Gales HSB was in good nick.

This is a fab little pub, great friendly bar staff, a great range of drinks and bar snacks. and what the pub lacks in space it makes up for in personality, the punters are generally a happy bunch that you can join in a conversation with.

We visited this pub a few weeks ago and despite it being just past no food time we were offered something - a truly excellent Sunday Roast with a unusual but wonderful dish of veg. The staff were very friendly as in fact was everyone we met in this charming little village.

Excellent real ales, curry night on Tuesday, International night on a Thursday. Good food served at the lunch times too.
