Returning back to London from Sussex on Jubilee Tuesday trying to find a pub that wasn't doing a B-B-Q (in the rain !!) was proving hard. Saw the pub sign on side of road (A29) as it was nearly 2pm we gave it a try.Looked good - oldeworld in &out. . Owner / staff very friendly, had a tasty Badger Best. Good range of food (not too much choice) - a good chunk of steak & kidney pie, roast pork, beer battered fish. Veg. passable (why is it so hard to find pubs that can cook veg properly ??). Service was quick - though pub was only 1/2 full. Overall - worth stopping off if in area.

visited on 17 may 2012,what a lovely pub, great landlord, had a pint or 3 of hopping hare, well kept cosy type pub, will return and try a meal there

absolutely awful, this is amazing for the fact it is still open. i had a pork belly the size of a pack of cards- 12.95, the burger my father had was crimated and never coming back....the fish and chips was o.k until the mushy peas had frozen bits in it...the other meals were as bad, but to top it off we had a 4 drink on our bill which wasn't ours...we didn't notice until we were home. never never never going back

Had a delightful, calorie-laden lunch with a cycling group here one sunny day last October. Glad we'd pedalled hard as I was able to order the yummy chicken and bacon with cheesey sauce dish. A happy memory.

Nice pub in good location. Beer nice and though not cheap not too pricey for this area. I've never had a problem with service. I intend to return.
|
We visited the pub for a nice evening meal as a birthday treat, and found the service slow, we had to wait over an hour for dinner. Staff was rude and unwelcoming... we will never return.
|
went there for a pint last night will not be going back in a hurry, rude staff and lousy beer
|
A Hall & Woodhouse pub so the beer is not too bad There's a separate public bar if you want to avoid the snobs in the lounge Friendly staff and good freshly cooked food

Good food and good beer and open all day, which many round here aren't. Sitting outside on a summer's evening, with a pint of Fursty Ferret is a pleasure. Also funny cause folk with braces of pheasants over their shoulders wander in from time to time.

Was in this weekend for some lunch on saturday. Well kept guinness and excellent food - would recommend

Good pint of Tanglefoot I agree it needs more choice of ales, did not eat so no FT.

Good food and wide choice of menu. Ales on tap are Fursty Ferret and Tanglefoot (latter preferred). Could do with introducing more choice - minor critcism.
Reliable choice of pub for food and drink.

A Cask Marque pub selling good ales, also serves very good food all day. A place I keep returning to after cycling and walking in that area
