Fabulous late Victorian gothic interior, with magnificent stained glass windows. Only drawback is that all the beers are keg.

Since I have a fondness for pubs with good architecture, especially late Victorian or Edwardian ones, I liked this pub immediately on walking in. The neo-Gothic arches and wooden panelling are superb. Sam Smiths is not my favourite beer but they do compensate by keeping the prices down; £3.10 a pint made it a cheap round!

Another beautiful Sam Smith's pub, and like many others, nearly deserted on a Saturday afternoon, even though well located for passing trade. The barman told his (few) customers the story of the stained glass, apparently destined for destruction. Thank goodness they were saved, as the sunlight filtering through made the pub very, er, angelic. Nice pint of OBB (2.90) & good service.

A traditional Sam Smith’s pub on the Marylebone High Street, it consists of a single downstairs room with dark wood panelling on much of the walls and another room upstairs although we did not investigate this. Food is offered here apparently, but we did not check the menu.
The pub sits on a corner plot, but the side road is not quite a right angle, and consequently the bar has a slight wedge shape to it. Stained glass windows are on two sides which is an attractive feature, and this together with the wood panelling and dark brown paint on the ceiling lends it a traditional Victorian ambience, although the red lino like floor covering could perhaps be improved. A small bay window is an unusual feature between the stairs and the bar. A fire-place was at the rear, although whether this is still in use I am unsure and there was a darts board in one corner.
Beers on tap were the usual somewhat uninspiring keg range from Sam Smith’s and consisted of their Old Brewery Bitter and Sovereign. The solitary cider was also their own Reserve.

Had some drinks with old workmates last Wednesday. Very pleasantly surprised at how good the place was. Would recommend for drinks, but don't know about food as none was available.
Continuing my Angelic crawl this was the most enjoyable visited. Very pleasant barmaid, good mix of clientele. Cheap Sam Smiths prices? Pull the other one! Bottles are over £5, but of course Taddy Porter is worth it. Well worth visiting for the proper pub experience, only the Golden Eagle can compete in this area.

It is Sam Smith's but it is a great looking pub and great for a pint and good food. It won't win any Michelin Stars but is tasty and good value.
The usual Sam Smith's selection yes, but sadly nothing handpulled. Even a pint of easy-drinking OBB is better than nothing! I'm surprised in an increasingly cask-aware beer drinking market that a pub can still offer no real ale and think that's acceptable. I didn't stay once I twigged as I don't particualrly favour Smith's keg or lager offerings.
Saying that, we were chased by a very eager landlady who wanted to know why we'd walked out. She was very decent about it and seemed keen to engage in feedback as to how she could improve, as she'd only taken over very recently. She admitted the ale problem was poor and was keen to get something in - it'll be OBB of course but that's good enough. We had a nice chat and parted company, but I at least sensed that she had a genuine desire to listen, act and improve - especially because the Angel is actually a fine pub that isn't lacking in character and other worthy features.
Best of luck - watch this space.

A Sam Smith's pub on the High St with their usual collection of drinks - you'll either like them or not.
The interior is dark wood panelling with what appeared to be red lino on the floor and some impressive stained glass windows around two walls. I rather liked the pub but not a huge fan of Sam Smith's so only stayed for one.

The Irish bar man I am pleased to say is still there - A very friendly chap who talked to me about the change in Sam Smiths lager which I did not know about. The main lager going from 4. something percent to 2.8!! Overall though, great bar staff, a "proper" pub, lovely, - friendly staff and great prices - win win win. Visit!!
Great little pub on the Marylebone High St. The Irish guys that run it are friendly and welcoming always & that attitude comes through on the staff who are only too keen to serve a pint. Sam Smiths pub so of course prices are on the cheap which is a bonus. As someone said earlier just enough from the bustle of the West End but a busy after work boozer around 5. Can play darts there as well which I enjoyed.
A typical Sam Smiths pub, but what's wrong with that. Good beers at very good prices. The Irish barman provided a great welcome and prompt service. Will pop in again sometime in the near future.
Went for the first time on a Thursday evening and this seems like a great place for post-work pints.
Sam Smiths beers so there's a good selection and all cheap as chips, attentive & friendly barmen made sure the glasses never got empty, and was easy enough to get a seat/spot at the bar. Well worth a visit.
A hidden find and seemed an excellent pub. The interior was classic old pub, and the prices staggeringly cheap
What is there not to like?

I also love this place.
Feels like a lived in local in Central London.
Lovely stain glass windows. Nice to sit outside and perv, sorry I mean people watch.
Young friendly Irish barman seems to know what he's doing.
I'm boycotting The Golden Hind, after they refused to sell me a bag of chips to take away. 5 minimum take away order ... IN A FLUCKING CHIP SHOP!!!!!!!

I really like this Sam Smiths pub. Aside from the cheap/good beer equation, which always makes sense; its well located to be just far enough from the hustle of Oxford Street that it remains fairly devoid of tourists and the like. There's also two cracking eateries on the same road, 'The Golden Hind', which is a great Fish & Chip place and 'The Relais de Venise' which is a must try French Steak & Frites joint.
Not the best Sams in Marylebone but it is up against some stiff opposition (Dover Castle, Duke of York). Otherwise an OK pub which doesn't ever seem to get busy.
i worked at the pub and it was awesome. the regulars are cool. we used to get all the students from the cordon bleu school. and on friday nights it used to get busy which was fun to work. cheap pints, wheat beer is sooooo good and the cider is awesome. and clem and ciaran were probably the best people i worked for while i lived in england.
Nice little sam smiths ( there a bit marmite, you love 'em or hate 'em) for a quite pint or two, never seen it that busy.
Sam Smiths with old ornate windows and no OBB.
Staff were very friendly, but I doubt that I'll return.
Typical Sam Smiths although as noted below no cask OBB. A little harsh to say there is nothing worth drinking, the draught Extra Stout is fantastic and the bottled Oatmeal Stout is in the top 10 on Ratebeer. The Taddy Porter and Nut Brown Ale are also really excellent beers.
Attractive and comfortable looking Sam Smiths pub. But it still only has the keg version of Old Brewery Bitter, so wont be getting my custom. As Grecian says, it's the same old Sam Smith's story. The cheap prices don't make up for the absence on anything drinkable in my opinion.
Good selection of S Smith's brews, had a top notch 10/10pint of ss's extra stout myself @ just 2.28!! Very nice chatty aussie barmaid to boot, 9/10
I forgot to add The Red Lion in Kingly street. Once you get your eye in, you can spot them a mile off.
The Angel is one of the few remaining Henekeys pubs, with most of it's interior intact. Others to seek out are The Lyceum, Strand, The Earl of Lonsdale, Ladbroke Grove/Portobello Road and the magnificent Cittie of York, High Holborn - this was their H.Q. Does anyone know any other London survivors?
Usual story for a Sam Smith's pub - an absolutely splendid unspoilt interior - the stained glass windows here are worth a visit on their own - but the usual lack of anything drinkable. I noticed here that there is no bitter on handpump, either.
Always hard to gauge how good a pub is on a saturday lunchtime, but the Angel In The Fields has the makings of a decent one, if not one of Samuel Smith's best. Cask OBB and the upstairs bar are a plus but in terms of interiors I think there are better SS establishments.
the pub is located in the middle of marylebone high street around many stores, when the miss wanna go shooping it is the BEST PLACE to sit and talk to some friendly strangers. theres a very famous cookery school just around the corner from the pub, so in the evenings u can meet many young students from all around the world. p.s get the alpain lager...
Never sure about this place, but its growing on me.
The lack of music can make it really quiet off peak, but its not an problem when busy. Lots of American Expats come here, it seems. Great interior, although I can't fathom why they re-located the bar from the corner to the middle of the room.

From the Golden Eagle the next point of call was to have been the Prince Albert, a pub I'd never visited. Sadly it appears to have become a trendy restaurant so we came here instead. None of us had been here before. Coincidentally we arrived as the previous reviewer was posting his comments. Quite agree with everything he says, and the Wheat Beer was superb. Definitely a pub to come back to.
Great pub. Quiet atmosphere of a lunchtime. No piped music. Just the low hum of the drinkers' conversation. Delicious Sovereign Bitter and Wheat beer. Lovely dark wood panelling and stained windows. Reminds me of the other good Sam Smiths pubs in Holborn ( Princess Louise and Cittie Of Yorke) but a lot quieter and smaller. You can't fault Sam Smith's pricing policy. Where else can you get two quality pints of bitter in London for less than 3.60(that's for the two!)?
Found it somewhat dull and the food was disappointing. Better options in the area.
Very, very decent pub in Marylebone 'village', down to earth and the recent refurbishment hasn't done it any harm. Head upstairs to a lounge-like area for food, which is OK quality (better than chain pubs) and very reasonably priced, as are the drinks, the main reason people tend to go to Samuel Smith's pubs. A good old fashioned boozer where lively banter and general frivolity are the order of the day.
If I'm in the area and fancy a quiet drink with a friend, this is the pub I'll go to.
Once it gets dark, it can get a bit dingy in here. And if you're tempted by the free room hire upstairs, where the bizarre shape of the building is even more evident, it will only be staffed if busy enough and you can't have any music up there.
However, downstairs is what it's all about here. And when the sun gets low in the sky on a summer's evening and pours through the fantastic stained glass as one sups one's pint, it's a unique and quite wonderful place. and cheap too. Go!

Not on Bond Street. Not "in" Bond Street either, if something can be without entering a sewer. Marylebone is the location.
For Sam Smith's, this one is positively effete.

Pleasant Sam Smiths pub, nice windows/decor, cheap drinks. It's nice inside when the sun shines through the windows. I've never found anything to slag it off about yet, lack of toilet paper perhaps.
Only redeeming feature is the cheap beer. Forget standing outside unless you like breathing in road fumes.
Really liked this pub. Inside it is clean, the staff are friendly and helpful and the beer tasted good. It was quiet as it was a sunny saturday afternoon but the outside seating made drinking there a thoroughly pleasant experience. I'll definately pop in again and would advise anyone passing to do the same.
one of the quieter pubs in the area that we visited but good beer all the same, samuel smiths house so you know what your gonna get before you go in i suppose
Nice cheap Samuel Smith's on tap, but appart from that a pretty average pub for this area of London.

PS: Oh, and the sign is back. ;-)
Great pub, lovely Sam Smiths Sovereign Best Bitter. Food reasonably ok. Certainly worth popping into if in the area.
Great pub but the sign is missing outside. Mind you, it is not easy to miss!

My favourite Samuel Smith's pub. Friendly, cheap, and not overcrowded. Outside tables permit drinkers to watch the world go by and in winter a nice fire is provided.
