This pub seems somewhat difficult to rate, it seems to have plenty of support in the reviews, however every time we go customers are grumbling about something to do with the pub or its staff. The beer that we had could have been better poured but was acceptable, but once again we heard about a disgruntled diners experience.

There were already a few people in the dining room when we arrived but we werent in a rush to join them. With the bar offering four hand-pulled real ales and a great selection of wines, we planned to make the most of our taxi fare by enjoying a few drinks before our meal. We had heard good things about the Fox and Hounds in Shenstone and we were immediately impressed by the stylish decor of the recently refurbished dining room. As is the case with many good restaurants nowadays the main menu is short and to the point. Menus offering a never-ending choice of dishes almost always disappoint. Happily chatting with a very friendly member of staff who told us that the restaurant had recovered from last years credit crunch and was again attracting diners from all over the area. Having just enjoyed a first class meal at a very reasonable price we could certainly understand its popularity!

The incredibly miserable old guy with the beard as run the Fox and Hounds for 8 years now, in that time he as turned the Fox from a ok sort of pub in to the best in the village, the two other village pubs are now shut the Railway having gone out of business two weeks ago, hes as seen 15 landlords come and go in that time as won many awards been in the Good beer guide, the Good Pub Food guide was first to gain the Gold Beautiful Beer Award in the area and still is the only one. His beer sales are up again this year where most are seeing falling sales, last year came 5th out of 8500 pubs for customer service the reviewers stating I wish this was my local. Perhaps you where just having a bad day pedidrinker

Ate in the Fox and Hounds the other week, the new menu and chef in the restaurant was great. The food was superb with a brilliant atmosphere however there was only one issue which was the old guy who served behind the bar. I can only assume he was the landlord and he was incredibly miserable and let the pub down. Otherwise fully recommended just try to avoid the guy with the beard!!

With the exception of Jimbo Smith, everyone else here has currently just a single review on BITE - this pub, so i decided to visit Shenstone to see what i thought. I didnt eat.
The exterior is a nice black and white painted brick. The interior has a smaller snug on two levels and an open plan lounge for dining. The decor in the snug is brick, beam and plain textured walls, with some old memorabilia and ornaments on the walls. It looks nice and tidy.
Service was fine, though he didnt seem the happiest of chaps. He poured me the wrong drink and replaced it without a quibble, evem when i offered to have it. The place felt like a locals pub, but this did not make me feel unwelcome. I enjoyed my visit.
Beer; usual tap stuff, with GK IPA, Abbotts Ale and Adnams Bitter. These were well kept, but are not really to my personal taste. No MILD.
The Plough has gone, the Railway is at best mediocre, leaving this pub as the best in the village.

Visited this pub on a Sunday afternoon for a bite to eat and a pint. Beer was served without a smile and the food (Stake&Ale Pie)left me with indigestion for two days. The only saving grace of this dreary little pub was four excellent real ales.

Not a pub I would recommend eating at .Poor quality food served with indifference by a landlord that was rude and frankly downright obnoctious . Will definately be giving this one amiss from now on!!

Well keithfly1 it is a pub and not a restaurant os what did you expect. I think its a great pub with great beer and good pub food always very clean with friendly staff.

Have been here many times for drinks but not to eat. They had my booking in the wrong name to start with. Our table right by the kitchen door so not that great. My beef & ale pie overcooked with dry beef & shrivelled mushrooms. Girlfriend's cod was chewy and bland. The lemon tarts for dessert were very nice. These & the great 'two for one' main courses (provided you each had starters or desserts)saved the day. Perhaps we just had an off day - it was very busy. But this was pub quality food - and not great at that - rather than a proper restaurant

Two room local in a very upmarket village, which is reflected in the prices. However, the small bar is friendly enough as long as you can take the fact that the bar staff ignore who is next in favour of the locals. excellent pint though. Interesting collection of books in split level bar.
