We escaped out of the freezing rain into this pub yesterday and it was a really delightful experience. The barman was very friendly when I enquired if kids were allowed and a high chair was brought out before we'd even sat down. The beer choice is excellent - I had a Seasider ale which was very good - there were also 4 or 5 other ales on. The menu is small, but has a Gallic twist (well the chef is French!), including snails which sadly they had run out of but we had cassoulet and steak et frites both of which were tasty and good value. The locals also seemed a good bunch (especially as we had a toddler running around). All in all this is a pub we hope to visit again.

Suprised not to see a review for 4 1/2 years. Not as much character as the Duke of York but more entertainment on offer.

Great pub and atmosphere. Very nice smoking area outside for those of us who have decided to carry on! always a friendly face with some good music nights and good staff. Well worth the effort to work the extra few meters!

Great pub now after a few years in the wilderness. Good selection of beers and bottles and a great pool room downstairs. South African behind the bar (never met a nice one) but other than that highly recommended.

Amazing, this pub has really come up in the world. great atmosphere. cheerful landlord, very good beer!

This pub used to be edgy and cool when the so-called "weirdos" drank here. Unfortunately, nowadays the clientele seems to consist of ageing baby-boomers eager to fritter away their kids' inheritance before Gordon Brown can get his sly paws on it. Nice pint of IPA, though.

I go to this pub most weekends for the live music and find it to be a very nice place to drink.

Nice pub, friendly landlord who by all accounts has really turned the place around. Not too crowded and not rowdy - perhaps a little too quiet for a Saturday night, but will get busier as word of the resurrection spreads, I'm sure. Good on Dave for supporting live music - and he keeps a good pint too.

Nice pub tucked away in the Pantiles. Live music Thursday night. Dart board, quiz machines and juke box. Food is available during the day.
