I have been back a few times recently and am happy to say it is much improved. Well done to all concerned.

One to include on a Croydon crawl. Staff have always been friendly, pool, darts and smoking area. Triangular shaped pub, 'Jokes Blackboard' in the gents. Nice to sit in the 'bow' of the pub (so to speak). Harvey's had run out yesterday but others available so no complaints. All in all, another excuse not to go to one of the appalling establishments elsewhere in CR0.

My friend and I visited this pub for the first time and were very impressed. A previous poster mentioned a 'local pub for local people' and there's not much wrong with that! The bar staff were very friendly, there were people enjoying a game of darts and a couple of chaps playing crib just along from our group of cricket umpires and scorers. The Harvey's was in excellent nick and we wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Cannot get on with this pub, It is a nice building and could be good. "Local pub for local people" is the phrase that springs to mind. The food is good I'm told as is the entertainment but they just can't keep an ale, which is important in a pub!

Hadn't been here for a three of four years - and the Surrey Cricketers was as exactly as I recalled it. Lots going for it - busy with a good atmosphere, darts/pool facilities, sport on TV - but a badly kept Harvey's Sussex Best. Will definitely return though.

A decent boozer, seemed spacious and quaint on the inside
Fair amount of tap. There is the feeling this can be a regulars haunt once it gets going, but popped in on a more quieter moment
|
Pleasant enough traditional establishment with friendly enough bar staff.
Worth a visit. Keeps Harveys on tap and Alphonso Tallyman likes a Harveys. If you knew Alphonso you would know it's a good thing to keep him happy.
Doesn't feel like it's in Croydon which is in many ways a good thing.

Well put osgood - I will report my post (this one) for removal tomorrow when others see that the idiot you've described is in abundance in many pubs!!! Here's a deal, you have ours for a week or two and we'll have yours - then an evenings entertainment swopping stories on the rubbish they and their type spout! No rating left, I moved from the area years ago.

Nice little pub. Unfortunately spoilt by an idiot of a regular! You know the type - self appointed pub helper always wanted his own pub but never had the bottle to buy one. In there every day so hard to bar, although some pubs have.
If it was not for this self opinionated fool of a man I would certainly use the pub more often.
jaz music one sunday a month which gose down a strom. GOSE DOWN A STROM .

this pub is by far the best in croydon. the people are great (both staff and customers alike)
they have lots going on in the pub. 3 darts teams crib teams and a pool team, two football teams, all which you are more than welcome to get involved in.
they hold many event mostly for fundraising for the nspcc. with include race nights quiz night discos fundays.
the food they serve is out of this world and at a price of just 4.75 or two meals for 8.oo you cant go wrong.

I'm not an expert on Pubs but visited there Sept 2005 and was very impressed with the beer and especially the Sunday roast. As a Yank it fit very well with my idea of a "Pub" I expect to go back again this year
|
You have got to try the sunday roast, top grub!!

A traditional pub, with excellent homemade food, friendly staff and inviting atmosphere. Supported by local dart, crib and pool teams - as well as football teams. Top of the crop for Croydon
