The transformation has taken place. It seems a lot smaller than it's previous incarnation and the bar has moved to the opposite side of the pub. The only seem to serve Guiness and John Smiths. Didn't stay for one as there were a lot people waiting an I wanted to watch the football somewhere less packed. They still show SKY Sports.

In the process of becoming a Yates'.

Bar staff friendly. Beer & food good value and reasonable (Chicken Balti and a Guiness for 5.95). Downstairs decor OK but scruffy in parts. Gents toilet had no soap and a couple of sinks were badly damaged.
Big screen showing sports.
Quite quiet on the Saturday night I went in whilst waiting for a friend to arrive. Prompt and friendly service. Resonably price beer (1.90 for a pint of Bombadier). Music was loud chart music. Decor of wooden tables/floors and sofas.

Nothing I write is going to change the opinions of those who frequent this place, as those that do most likely can't read anything other than TXT. Marginally better than drinking a can of Special Brew in the park, but only if it's raining.
Remarkably, this isn't actually the worst pub in Bedford High Street. At least the remaining Litten Tree outlets such as this have started selling real ale (Bombardier usually), and the seats near the front aren't too bad a place to sit and talk or just watch the world go by (provided that the barman hasn't got the sound system turned up too loud, in a vain attempt to give the place a bit of a buzz).
like a noisy tatty badly run wetherspoons.... dreadful slow service, now selling up to two real ales

What a great spot for evenings, the music, the surf machines jacuzzi and yes, my very bad karaoke, i could reccomend this place for anyone wanting a good night out in bedford
Is this place still open? Was closed on a sunday evening.
Recommended to me by a taxi driver as he dropped me off at the Wellington, which probably says a lot for Bedford's taxi drivers. Decent enough place and good for live football with the many TV screens dotted around. Drink selection was usual JS Smooth, Fosters, Strongbow etc. on draft with a myriad of multi coloured WKD and Reef bottles waiting for the night time crowd.
I'm over 21 so I'm probably not allowed in, not that I'd fancy it anyway. Has apparently cleaned up it's act but still the same old chavs hanging about outside.
had a great saturday night here! awsome dj great staff! and not a hint of trouble at all. will be coming back for sure.
Well since this pub has been under new management it has certainly turned around! I am regally in here Wednesday / Friday and Saturday nights and I can say I have never seen a chav within 100 yards. Great new dj, s on Friday and Saturday nights and 4 big screens and 10 plasmas to watch the footie on. And I have never seen any hint of trouble! The dance floor is always packed! On a Saturday and they have some of the best drinks offers around. So Eddie you may just want to stay at spoons and have a nice pint of smiths before you afternoon nap.

I am thoroughly embarrassed to admit that I was, once again, coerced into this establishment on this occasion a quiet Tuesday night, just as some football had finished on the big telly. Just for the record then, it remains a monsterous pit of small-town-binge-drinking-adolescent-hell.
I'm afraid to say I was coerced into this place by a friend one late afternoon and was served a rather magnificent breakfast for 3.50 and a reasonable pint of Guinness (for about the same amount). The experience was marred only by the annoying 'audio-visual entertainment' and the fact that I knew within a couple of hours it would evolve into a monsterous pit of small-town, binge-drinking, adolescent hell. Needless to say I left sharpish and got heartburn.

Quite terrible, disinterested staff and full of "Chav's". It seems the "Chav" is free of taste.

I was in there last Friday. OMG what a dive!!! dodgy DJ, i dont think he said 3 words during the half hour i was in there. The lights were still full up at 10pm and the music was fairly quiet. Change the DJ!!!
how this pub hasn't been closed down yet i will never know every friday or saturday night a fight kicks off, it's full of chavs, how can people like this pub

i met there a boy... and i fell in love! so i like this pub very much;) and by the way, i think that the best pubs are in Poland! last holiday i was there and i really enjoye! you know... polish parties are really good, so... go to Poland!
CLOSE IT DOWN!!!this place really sucks. the staff are slow, rude and just idiots. the drinks are over priced, and they may of had a major refurb, but on what???? a serious waste of space and i dont think i'm alone in thinking that. if you want to find the scum of bedford, then look no further. the police do a great trade by sitting outside and just picking off the "clients".

I never seen such an awful pub in Bedford, staff look like they rather be somewhere else, too noisy, horrible poppy music, never go near this place especially at weekends, always trouble on the high street even with a high police presence, even bankers draft is better than this dive.

i like it, it has a modern look and it has so much space, ideal for those who want to sit down! it's nice and yeah, wherever you go chavs are about - just ignore. Our group went there for the first time and we liked it, a nice hour or so before we headed off! Toilets are clean and lovely so thats an added bonus!

OK during the big England matches but attracts loud and boorish fans or teenagers/students. Very smoky, full of drunks, awful.

Used to come here during my lunch hour at University, used to be served quite quickly but this declined over the months i have stopped going here now, it's too crowded, full of smoke and drunks, avoid this especially on a friday and saturday night.
I really don't understand why people regularly visit this vast waste of space. There is no atmosphere (apart from during big matches, I agree), the prices are astronomical, and don't expect to get served within the hour when it's even slightly busy. During the day it's spattered with down & outs clinging to their pint like it's their dying mother and in the evening it's literally crammed full of idiots queuing 6 deep for pint of flat lager. AVOID!!
dreadful pub - a freehouse with "no beer" loads of morons shouting at the football on a big screen - keep away

Enormous booze barn. Only really any good when there is a big England game on when this place has a real terrace atmosphere. Other than that a bit of a alcopop meat market.

Crowded with students on the weekend with ridiculously booming dance music. Great place if you're a kid who wants to get drunk and dance. Finished as much of my beer before I had, HAD to leave.
