A fine example of a traditional real ale pub. The Green Jack ales are very well kept and the pub has a friendly welcoming atmosphere. It was My 1st visit yesterday but I will definitely be back on my next trip to Lowestoft. I will have to try one of the music Fridays!!

Quiz night! Eight own brew beers on, with a range of colours and gravities. Traskermen very nice for us traditional beer drinkers. I think that they had a guest beer on too. Friendly welcome and well worth the visit.

What is going on here ? Lt couple of times pub stank to high heaven and three different green jack beers all bland and flat. Someone needs to get a grip fast !

Large range of Green Jack beers plus two guest ales on our visits. Sign in the back bar said 'Hippies please use back door, no exceptions' but I had already entered via the front door and only saw the sign when I nipped out for a ciggie. Staff are friendly and helpful as are the locals. Pub with character, I enjoyed my visits.

Visited three times over the last three weeks and very disappointing. Beer on each occasion came out near enough chilled, for older people remember Ice Cold In Alex and you have got the picture. With friends on each occasion so tried several beers and all the same cold temperature. One of my friends likes his beer slightly cool but it was even too cold for him.As a result all beers lacked taste until warmed up by hand..If it had been cold out fair enough but the weather was mild ! Has been a mecca for real ale drinkers but will be in danger if it continues to serve beers as cold as it has been doing.

2 visits on Saturday, one around 2pm and the other at 10.30pm, both visits very different.
My afternoon visit was similar to the other visits to the Triangle, beer drinkers in the front bar with cyclists and walkers, the back bar having locals and pool players. The full range of Green Jack beers on tap, I went for the 10.5% Baltic Trader…this beer is not for the faint hearted!
My evening visit was quite different. The front bar had a band on, all seating areas taken and having such a small bar no real room to stand. The back room was also very busy with pool players taking up a large chunk of the space. The juke box was also pounding out sounds.
Still a decent pub and a good outpost for Green Jack beers.

Great pub, friendly staff. If you have a dog or are after manners though, don't approach the large guy who sits in the front bar. One of the rudest people I've ever met, though it would be unfair to tar this pub with his attitude, as it was a great place with a lively atmosphere.

Buzzing front bar early on Saturday evening and a full range of Green Jack ales on offer in good condition. Efficient bar staff, chatty locals. Quite excellent.

I've not been for a while, but I thought it was the best of the bunch I tried in Lowestoft too.
Good beers, pleasant staff and customers, lively, amiable atmosphere, simple, clean decor.
"No fault found".

Visited on a damp Saturday in June. The surroundings are not prepossessing but the beer was excellent - Green Jack Mild at 2.00! Can't comment on the interior really as we sat outside to keep an eye on our bicycles - it is the sort of area where that seemed wise (as I don't know Lowestoft, that comment may be unfair). Definitely worth another visit if in the area.

My first visit to Lowestoft where I took in a game at Lowestoft Town and visited this superb Green Jack Brewery pub. I enjoyed 5 of their ales and 3 of them were superb. I visited on a Saturday tea time and the pub was busy with locals and a couple of cyclists, a cracking atmosphere in the front bar where I sat enjoying the beer. Not sure I would go back to Lowestoft but if I ever did this pub was be a most visit. A truly cracking pub with knowledgeable bar stuff and a nice cliental.

Excellent boozer just outside of the main shopping area, traditional and very friendly. There was a Beer Fest on when I visited so there was a decent crowd in on a Saturday afternoon. The building was larger than it looked from the outside and it was certainly comfortable. No food, just a great place to be.

Best pub in Lowestoft. Kitted out as a traditional alehouse but with various humorous posters and eccentric add-ons to give the pub its own individual character. Excellent beers, the Gone Fishing was superb. Not to be missed if in Lowestoft.

Generally get here a couple of times a year and as usual the beer was excellent , highly recommended to people who like their beer . Good atmosphere and friendly bar staff

A very good pub it seems to be wood everywhere. The beers on my three visits were a bit variable. The service is a bit haphazard.
|
This is an awesome real ale pub, plus they brew Orange Wheat Beer, which isn't actually made by humans but by angels instead. Cool pub, good beer in an otherwise pretty grotty town.
|
You have to say that it is a great real ale pub, a drinkers pub. Live music on most Thursday and Friday nights. If you are in Lowestoft do no miss out.

Late review from October. Don't get to Lowestoft often, but this is a must when we do. Friendly staff and good beer. Enjoyed Otter and Oakham ales.

Mis-spent most of my late teenage years here, it became my sitting room the bar staff are lovely :)
|
Didn't see any spit or sawdust but I know what you mean. Well run town centre pub with excellent beer although the Grasshopper was past it's best. Certainly worth a revisit.

The Triangle Tavern is a lovely pub with a good range of ales. The pub is propper spit and sawdust in a modern stylee and the posters adorning the wall were all beer related. Belgium ales are on tap and they even had some rum aged cider which was Chris's choice.. I went for Mahseera ipa which was on good form and went down too well. My second choice was the Canary from Green Jack this to me was malty and to me a little tasteless. I did keep away from the beak you'll be glad to know. Green Jack Brewery do some really good beers and the pub which is the brewery tap is a must try if in this area.. They put some loud music on when we went into the second room of the large pub I guess because we were a bunch of young trendy things together; And if you really believe that you are so foolish! this pub is surely Lowestoft's treasure. br> They even do a yard of ale drinking competition and the Triangle Tavern yard of ale champion 2007 is Doski who finished it in 18 seconds which is not to be sniffed at. Bar snacks included pickled eggs and rollmops. mmmm, what more does a bloke require at half 12 on a Satterday afternoon. Later in our short visit we went around the back of the pub and had a look around the brewery. Green Jack had a 10 barrel plant and apart from the St Judes brewery in Ipswich it is the smallest Jaid and I have ever been in. In fact the brewer told us they produce more beer per square foot than any other British brewer. they use challenger and pioneer for bittering, then a large selection of others including steerian and goldings hops. The brewery is computer controlled and they tell us that this keeps consistency to a rather better degree than the old manual plant. The water quality is good for brewing and it is a little hard so this is adjusted. The success of Ripper has rased Green Jack's profile over the last year but because it is an 8,5 percent beer they don't shift large volumes. Good touch before we moved on we were given nibbles. Warm and friendly pub. Will go back.

P.S. Forgot to mention; always got 2 real ciders on. One of which is usually Banhams Rum Cask. (7.5%) Superb!
|
You heard it here first!
Green Jack 'RIPPER' which is brewed at the Triangle, just voted Champion Beer of Britain 2007.
Congratulations to Tim and his team.

Popped in for a New Year pint. This is a serious real ale pub with friendly, character punters and a rich slate of real ales constantly changing. Didn't hear the live music but plenty advertised. Do make this your pub of choice in central Lowestoft

( nb. set a little aback from the road on a square, so keep your eyes peeled). granted, i've only ever been to one pub in lowestoft, but this is my favorite pub in lowestoft, doubt that this would change . extensive range of home and abroad beers, has two beer festivals a year . a gem, a true old-school pub. has a proper completely separate public bar and saloon bar, go down a side corridor and up some steps to the public bar, there's even a small bar en-route to this bar . unchanged lovely interior, with fire . caters for The Old Man, and The Student, and The Youth seamlessly as real pub should . great place to enjoy with others or on own as you can in a real pub . couldn't recommend it enough .
