A decent place really.
A large looking building from the outside and cosy on the inside.
The only trouble was we could'nt get a good seat and had to sit in the back room which we did not enjoy.
So overall just a 6/10 from me

excellent pint of the Topsham breweries Stout on offer. As part of the Beltane 10th Anniversary weekend the Globe also did us a fab buffet lunch

Six pumps - five beers available on my visit - Otter Amber and Ale, Exmoor Wild Cat, Doom Bar and Directors. I tried the Otter Amber and Ale, the Amber wasn't too bad.
The oak panelling and beams give the bar an atmospheric feel but you're very much aware that you're in a hotel as opposed to a pub - the reception area is merely an extension of the bar and guests were checking in inches from where I sat. Given a more interesting selection of ales I would consider a return visit.

I popped in one evening last month. The welcome was friendly and there was a good atmosphere with a gentle buzz of conversation and no piped music. A couple of well-kept pints of Otter Amber later, I caught the bus back to Countess Wear after a pleasant evening reading the paper.

A nice cosy old town hotel, beer was fine, if a little predicatble, Otter Amber when we visited.

Large range of ales in good order. Nice hotel bar with character and friendly staff.

Brilliant character filled old pub. The pub itself has character, and it is full of characters too.
The beers all seemed pretty good, and the food, although I did'nt try it looked and smelled nice.
All in all well worth a visit.

Interesting pub, that suffered from having a dreadful barman for several years. He surronded himself with a few cronies and made bad natured cracks about the customers, that he didnt like the look of. Fortunatly this gentleman has left and is probably ruining the trade and name of another pub.

Good beer selection, but can sometimes get crowded and could do with a few more staff. The Folk club on Sunday night is worth visiting. Dont be put off by the word Folk as anyone can sing anything.

We had a struggle to get into the car park in this popular pub. The beer was fine but although the food looked good we were not ready to eat. Some outside tables by the car park.

Lovely friendly atmosphere - beers selection has improved over the last few years - good range of guest beers (recommend the Cotleigh beers!!)

Folk music on Sundays in retauraunt and live music in Malt House across the car park!

First visit in over two years. Pleased to relate that it seems better than last time.

A good selection of beers - about 6 different ones and the ones I had tasted good. The staff were helpful and successfully found a funnel so that I could buy some beer to take away.

I would consider going there again, but there is stiff competition for good pubs in Topsham.

Poor service from disinterested staff.Beer quality ok but nothing to rave about-strongest real ale 4.0 abv!!

Good locals pub.
Ladies toilets a bit smelly
No horrid musak or juke box
Family run
real fires in winter
Cricket a very hot bar topic

Large old hotel in the centre of Topsham. A nice selection of real ales is available but they tasted a bit on the tired side. There is an attached restaurant, and folk music on Sunday evenings.
