A decent place really. A large looking building from the outside and cosy on the inside. The only trouble was we could'nt get a good seat and had to sit in the back room which we did not enjoy. So overall just a 6/10 from me montie49 - 1 Nov 2011 18:53 |

Six pumps - five beers available on my visit - Otter Amber and Ale, Exmoor Wild Cat, Doom Bar and Directors. I tried the Otter Amber and Ale, the Amber wasn't too bad. The oak panelling and beams give the bar an atmospheric feel but you're very much aware that you're in a hotel as opposed to a pub - the reception area is merely an extension of the bar and guests were checking in inches from where I sat. Given a more interesting selection of ales I would consider a return visit. holbornboy - 8 Oct 2010 18:48 |
I popped in one evening last month. The welcome was friendly and there was a good atmosphere with a gentle buzz of conversation and no piped music. A couple of well-kept pints of Otter Amber later, I caught the bus back to Countess Wear after a pleasant evening reading the paper. Ordinary - 20 Sep 2010 22:41 |
