2nd Pub visited on the Island. A bit more for locals that the Atlantic over the road.
Decent pint of St Austell HSD in an interesting old building.

More of a locals pub, though whether this was because live football was being shown, I'm not sure. Served tribute and proper job, though I had the St Austell sunshine beer which was good. Has live bands on certain nights. Not a bad pub and worth a visit.

Really rather typical seaside pub with nothing especially wrong, but nothing to tempt you to revisit. Everything quite formulaic with Proper Job and a range of St Austell beers
|
Good choice of St Austell beers - not as nice as Sharp's Doombar, but that is my personal opinion and others will undoubtedly prefer the St Austell. Limited choice on menu - the meal was alright without being exceptional. Appears to be very much the locals local and did get extremely noisy later in the evening.

Nice pub in the centre of town with a good bar and pool table outside the back. Beer and service was fine but we tended to have a quick coffee here in the morning before getting a ferry out for the day. Restaurant looked nice but we didnt eat here.

This place seems to have improved beer wise since our last visit in 2007. The St. Austell beers were in good nick and the bar staff seemed attentive and on the ball. Nothing special but functional and probably quite cosy on a winter's night. The back yard smokers area turned out to be a good place to listen to the rich kids who were working in restaurants/pubs, slagging off the tourists who were paying their wages! Ok fxxxing Ya! Illuminating!

More rough and ready (and genuine) than the snotty Poole Harbour set in the Mermaid but much better for that (along with much better beer). The St.Austell Proper Job was good and the staff and clientelle very friendly. Opened nice and early too which was welcome on a wet morning in the Scillies.

Have not been there since 2005,but it was my favourite pub on st marys and served one of the best meals i have ever tasted, lamb in mint and cranberry,it was so impressive i have been recommending their food to anyone going to the scilly's. I am sorry to see some of the more recent comments,as i am looking forward to a return trip and was planning to eat mainly in the Bishop and Wolf. The meals i had and the beers both in 2003 and 2005 were some of the best i have ever had,so this would be a great loss if the comments i see on here since 2007 are accurate,i am going to rate this at 5 but it would have been 9 in 2005

This pub does seem to be more geared up for eating rather than drinking, the layout seemed a bit poor with wasted space away from the bar and limited area for drinking around the bar but served a good pint of Tinners.

Just got back after the bank holiday weekend from the Isle of Scilly. Went to every pub on St. Martin's, St. Mary's, Tresco and Bryher and this was one of the worst for real ale! I had a pint of St. Austell Tinners and the pint was cloudy and tangy. The staff unhelpful and very amatuer. After reading the comment's on this site I had to see for myself. The Bishop and wolf in the past has been better. Won't be coming back.

Tired and in need of new management. Tacky. You can't tell who is staff from customer! Sorry St. Austell.

The Bishop & Wolf was a real let down during our weeks stay on St. Mary's. Food lacking in fish and quality. restaurant was closed every night so you could only use the bar and the beer was flat and had tastless. In desparate need of a little TLC. I think St. Austell Brewery should have a word in the managers ear.

The Island: the main island - see the Mermaid. The Pub: you avoid entering because it looks so grim and say St Austell outside Beer: St Austell apparently - didn't try Food: I've no idea
|
This is about as bad as it gets. Terrible food, service - what service? Futhermore, the manager could not care less what you think. St Austell Brewery need to sort this place out sooner rather than later.
|
OK - fresh fish good. One of the few pubs that accepts dogs, so was limited for choice.
|
OK but nothing to get excited about.
