'Bistro' one half (caled Brodick Brasserie), functional square one roomed bar (called Brodick bar) the other. Unusual in being opposite a sorting office yet not full of postmen. Deuchars IPA (not handpulled) resembleg Foster's Lager. One of the few bars not attached to a hotel - though at least it was open.

Quite a nice place, although most people were there for the food so not much atmosphere in the bar. Beer was good (with Arran ales available in bottles) if a bit expensive - but I couldn't find a pint for less than 3 on Arran. Had a meal there later in the week which was very nice.

Visited in June 2009. Deuchars IPA, not on handpump. Beer was okay but pricey at 3.30. This seems to be normal for the island. Lacking an atmosphere, probably because it was afternoon and there was a shortage of customers. Barman was friendly with good information about the island which he was happy to share.

Deadful place, rude staff & owner. Went in to try for a meal, no tables although it was not busy. Must qualify for the WORST PUB IN BRITAIN.
Regards,
Max.

Paid 8.65 for a pint of deuchars and a glass of wine. Smart pub but not atmosphere. Concentrates mainly on food in the downstairs bar which is overpriced.

When I visited, the bar area was closed (till 3pm) and thus I had a beer in the brasserie half which is gastro-pub in feeling: heavy but modern wooden tables fashioned as though from drift wood. The main food was in the 13 bracket but I ate a snack sized lunch time fish and chips at 6 which was nicely presented but of only fair quality (very poor chips). It is in the 2007 Camra guide serving Deuchars IPA and McEwans 80 shillings though not hand pulled. For what it is worth, on my visit a young man was in charge and seemed friendly enough.

Only one beer - Deuchars IPA - which was wildly overpriced. This place is wholly lacking in any type of atmosphere. Not a particularly friendly welcome and you have to wonder why, when the brewery is about a mile down the road, the owner does not serve any Arran Ales. Avoid and walk down to the Ormidale Hotel just 10 minutes down the road.

Magnificent food ,all fresh produce used, when asked to book the following evening a charming host told us there was no need as he could guarrantee a table in 20 mins.We have lunched and dined here about a dozen times while on holiday and cannot criticise at all.Superb wine list.

Good food, but ruined by a lack of pub atmosphere (its more of a bistro), pretentious prices and an extremely rude owner.
