Typical Sam Smiths pub really, average beer but at cheap prices, the Pure Brew lager is as good as any premium lager on tap. The Swordsman is really a local's pub but can get a lot of passing tourists in the summer ... but the food is best avoided, typical Sam's "Chicken Ping" ! But friendly staff & friendly locals, worth a drive out to.

A Sam Smiths pub. The food is not too good, but it has a nice beer garden to the back, and the beer is ok. Has separate bar and stone floors. Used to get flooded regularly before the new defenses were put in place. Used to be called The Lion. Worth a visit on a summers day.

Had a pint and some food. beer was not bad but the food was quite poor to say the least. Had chips peas carrots and fish. Chips were rubbery peas and carrots tasteless. The other half wanted the same as me which was ordered only for the barmaid to come back and say we have not got another fish and chips so my o.h chose something else and the barmaid said we need another pound off you because your second choice is a pound more.
Don't think we will revisit this pub again

Now theres a turn for the books incase anyone was interested. I doubt it p.s can i have your ringtone.

I think you'll find that it is called the Kit Kat Crescent, not stadium. anyway it's better than being called the KFC stadium! how can they be sponsered by a chicken product when there is a distinct aroma of fish around the place! But on a positive note the beer just gets better in the swordsman. Shame about the telly though!

That is the correct answer mr hutchinson!! all excitement in the pub at the moment with the 5's and 3's final.. major stars tommo and daz make up one of the teams. Im sure you will join me in wishing them all the best. Hutch no longer needs to drown sorrows. The kit kat stadium seems to have had the aqquired results.. still prefer hull city mind..x

The art of using both feet equally is known as "equipedal". The beer just gets better!

The swordsman is a lovely pub, with good management and staff and customers. some are even that comfortable they fall asleep regularly at the bar, at tables, Anywhere they can find ( daz jackson ). I also liked ackos choice in music and hutchs parking space gives us all hope. Especially the entertainment that they provided along with sid on news year day is well worth making a visit. p.s hutch what is it called if you can use both feet?

Big news. The juke box has been permanantly turned off. This is after Paul Acko constantly played his Country and Western favourites over and over again. Every night of the week locals would be leaving after hearing Dolly Parton and Jimmy Nail. The final straw was when he tried to dance and sing along to them all after a few shandy's! Samuel Smiths brewery have since made it a national ban on juke boxes in all their pubs. All because of Paul "Crocadile Shoes" Atkinson. The beer just gets better though!

The beer just gets better and better but Hutch has been drowning his sorrows even more after York Citys recent poor results and was recently seen leaving his beer around the pub and going to the toilets with a full pint and coming back with an empty glass. Things are on the up for JAMES though, the Lanllord has given him his own parking space to reverse into, its called the PICNIC AREA!!! The Landlord has also had a request from sid to ban Hutch from kissing in the pub, as last weekend he'd had one to many and tried to stick one on him!!!(Dont tell Heather)

Brilliant value for money on all beers and food. Ideal for the OAPs in the village, like Paul Acko. You'll always find him chatting with the regulars at the corner of the bar, or slumped in the nice clean toilets. It all creates a cheerful and happy atmosphere. Thumbs up.

Great beer but hutch stuggles to keep up and has resorted to drinking lager and lime!!! And kissing!! He also stuggles to reverse his car in the parking spaces. Apart from that the atmosphere and food is second to none. At 1.22 a pint u cant go wrong.

This might not be the right place to put across my views but the service given by the kitchen staff in this lovely little pub was by all means disgraceful & rude. Me and my partner tryed to order some food one hour before food was finished serving and the reply was a tut a look at the clock and was told 1st the food we ordered had to come with a main dish, then was changed to they had run out of batter. I think lazyness comes to mind its such a shame that a nice pub with great ale can be pulled down with something so small. But been told by staff they dont have to explain themselfs to you isnt very good service.
