This felt like safe ground, in a city which, for its size, seems to be under-endowed with good pubs. We found the ales to be reasonably well-kept here too.
After spending the whole evening here, we left for pie and chips at the nearest chippy. On ordering this I was met with "A plegn yin oren yin yin yin?" A kindly local in the queue translated this for me as "a plain one or an onion one?" So it's maybe as well that it wasn't a Chinese business I suppose. They'd perhaps have had to have thrown in a few "yan"s just for balance, and then matters would probably have been beyond saving.

Large rectangular open-plan bar in the centre of the city busy mid-afternoon on Wednesday with a good spread of customers young and old but still lacking in atmosphere, not unusual for Wetherspoons. In addition to the usual Greene King rubbish Scottish breweries were well-represented and my pint of Orkney Northern Light at £1.89 went down well. In summary the bar was bland, not good or bad, but the only one I tried in Dundee so I cannot comment on local opposition.

Usual soulless JDW experience but, unusually for their pubs, it wasn't understaffed.

Not much to say really a rather drab standard Wetherspoons
Was busy on the Saturday evening I went in, was full of drinkers and the atmosphere was alright
Friendly enough place and easy to get served as there were loads of bar staff on.
The pint I had was good but pretty unremarkable place to be honest.

First of 7 Dundee pubs I visited. Sadly only one of the others is listed on this site. I will review that separately. This is a large unremarkable Wetherspoons. I'm not quite sure about the blue and purple walls. The beer selection was good - Greene King Abbot Ale, Caledonian Deuchars IPA, Harviestoun Born to be Mild, O'Hanlons Yellow Hammer, Strathaven The Counting House & Stewart Steve Stewart's. There is no real cider. A disappointing start to my Dundee tour. But far busier than the similar Town bar around the corner.

A drab place very much in keeping with Dundee which I have never taken to.
In terms of decor, it is probably one of the worst Wetherspoons I have visited (and I have visited a few). It is badly in need of a facelift/refurbishment.
All that said, it has a good range of ales - far better than Wetherspoons other Dundee outlet - the Capitol.

Very stuffy open plan pub, quite drab and tired looking from outside too. Only 1.59 a pint for my excellent Cairngorm "Sheepshaggers ale" and quick service helped it redeem itself pretty well, 7/10

The beer and spirits are good (and reasonably priced) and the toilets are clean.
However... you can wait ages on being served, the carpet is dirty, you'll be lucky if you can get a table and the food is dreadful.

One of the few pubs in Dundee to sell a range of reasonably kept real ales, so it has that in its favour. It is of course part of the Wetherspoons chain, and it is pretty much middle of the road, but perfectly acceptable in the food, drink and value department.
As previous reviewers have stated, it tends to attract a "mixed" crowd. During the day, it is not uncommon to see large groups of retired men, whose language and behaviour can at times verge on uncooth. Also tends to be busy of an evening, but luckily, this place is large enough to have plenty of discreet places to sit away from the madness. Although I would not normally sing the praises of Wetherspoon's outlets, this is one which generally doesn't disappoint.

This pub is a particular favourite of mine. However, it suffers from all the usual faults of a Wetherspoon's pub. Seldom enough staff behind the bar and the tables are often cluttered with the previous occupants glasses and dishes. Despite this, I like this pub because it offers the best selection of real ales in Dundee and it's staff are some of the nicest people you will meet!
The punters are a really mixed bunch - a mixture of old hardened drinkers, students and members of Dundee's 'Gadgie' community. Colourful to say the least! Try it out when you are in Dundee. I have since it opened some 10 years ago.

Below-average Spoons, as evidenced by absence from GBG. Rather untidy and lacking character.

Great beer, very good selection of real ales. Good atmosphere. Conversation only and good company. The service could be better but the excellent thing about this pub is the total lack of silly children.

No music which emphasises how much of an old man's pub this is. OK for a couple after work but definatly not for a nite out.

The sooner they ban smoking the better-frequented by older men for the cheap booze-all heavy smokers. No atomesphere.

Like all Wetherspoons, it's ok for a cheap pint but can get depressing if spending an entire evening in there.
