Expensive for both food and drink, but the food is plentiful for the money and very tasty. The real ales were well looked after, but you might just have to ask for a top-up due to the young and under-trained bar-staff's pint pulling ability.

Great place, always a good vibe and food excellent. Live music on the weekends, a favorite with me.
|
Stayed the weekend just gone here. It seems to be the hub of the local area with restaurant, rooms, live music and a good range of ales and cider served by young but enthusiastic staff. Tribute and Otter Amber Ale good but Dartmoor Best was as flat as a kipper's dick and was well past its best. To be fair this was acknowledged by the staff and a new barrel put on. Weekend went by in a bit of haze but there's a great vibe about this place! Will return...

How a Devon pub should be, go and see it for yourself. We were there on a thursday lunchtime at 12.45 and it was 3/4 full then. Plenty of room at the bar, so probably advisable to book. 9.5/10.

Very busy when we visited on a cold winters day. Would visit again if we could get a decent seat.
7/10

Really good range of well kept St Austell ales and although really busy on a Saturday evening service was good and we still got a table. Not surprisingly loads of surf dudes but a decent age mix and a good atmosphere. Just a shame there's no sea view!

Stayed here on Wed 11th May and enjoyed a great meal and some quality ales : St Austell Tribute and Golden Pig. Room was super, really comfy and although near to the bar it wasn't noisy. The staff and the other customers where all friendly.

Been here a few times and boy can it get seriously busy.
Having said that it's a great pub serving decent beer. Always head for here when I am in the locality.
|
A decent pub but can get very busy and difficult to find a table. When i was in there last it was ridiculously hot with the fire on and packed even though it was november i'd give it 7/10

Walked to this pub from woolacombe on a dull day, eventually finding it. Ales were super, tried a few as it was my duty. We were going to order food till we seen the prices so we went back to the red barn for food as it was faultless. This pub would be heading towards a 10 but for the price of the food. Families would need to remortgage!

Returned again for a weekend stay, two nights B&B good value at 50 per twin room per night and the breakfast fills you up until evening. The Tribute and Dartmoor were good, as usual. Lively atmosphere with the surfing crowd but obviously gets very busy Fri/Sat/Sun however the staff are great at ensuring prompt service.

Always worth a visit when in the area. Live bands on usually at busy times. Food not gastro but ok. Great atmosphere.

We visited this pub twice during our holiday in Croyde and loved it. The food is brilliant, large portions & quick and friendly service. Will definately be back there on our next visit.
|
This pub was converted into a pub in 1978 (it was formerly a barn !) The surfing crowd predominate, much to the benefit of the pub, their enthusiasm and joy at a great day out on Croyde Bay has an infective quality that puts everyone in high spirits. I was luckier than most, my holiday let was two minutes away from the beach. Two regular real ales plus a guest ,which is either from Clearwater,Jolly Boat or Wizard.

love this place and always pop in for a cider (don't have too many tho' they're leathal) always busy, great atmosphere....just wish we lived closer
|
Stayed a few years bakc - nice place to do so with good breakfast.
Beer is fine. They used to do amazing Nachos of a Saturday evening.
|
Called in for a pint and some tea. Not possible Barman stated - could only manage 1 cup of tea. So much for customer service. Will not use again - but I am old - obviously not a pub for 'Oldies'
|
Stayed at the Thatch in June 2006. Rooms OK. Clean and tidy anyway! Staff nice and breakfast amazing! Did'nt drink ther too much because it was too busy! Could'nt even get to the bar! Full of surfy people!

Brilliant company and great beer, nosh and music

Young and funky VERY lively hangout in Croyde village.
It's always utterly jam packed and you can cram a lot of fun into an evening here.
To be honest, I usually go elsewhere for food. (several great places in the village) but somehow we always end up here at some point during our stay.
It's just got to be done!
|
its good in here,...which is just as well cos its the only place in town......provides you with a good excuse to go on a surfing holiday and do no surfing..
