CLOSED - a few years ago. Now a pound shop. Handy if you need a washing up bowl. Not much in the line of beers though.

needs a bit of work done on it..........🤓👍

Wetherspoon's style pub owned and managed by Smith and Jones.
Only 1 ale on draught (Courage) which to be honest was very good and cheap, 3 pints for less than £6.00.
This was the busiest pub of the day in Alton with mainly people eating though.
Pleasant enough pub but not the sort of place I'd like to spend more than a few hrs in.

wow what happend at the weybridge!! its had a face lift its got carpet .good food at cheap prices. went in to watch the rugby on the big screen, there was 4 real ales on at around 2.30-2.50.IT WAS FAB..

lol 'drinkable' is a top result for the beers in this place!!
|
Popped in here on Saturday afternoon to watch the England game. There are plenty of TVs so it was not difficult to find a viewing seat. Three ales on - Theakstons Bitter, Ringwood Bitter and CW Bombardier. Drinkable rather than exceptional.

Not bad on a fri/sat night but not for a quiet drink! Can`t fault new management of Tom and Vie but some of the other staff well we wont go there. Food ok but nothing special, and drink is what youd expect from a big chain pub
|
Wot has happened to the bridge? New manager has not got a clue, bring back Woody and Debs! Come on Barracuda wot you playing at?

Music to loud and very bad. No beer just overpriced alcopops. Went in and straight out. The kinds of people who go here dont appreciate good food, drink, conversation and atmosphere. Why anyone would go here when youve got the railway arms in Alton I dont know.
|
My workmates have quite a few "dos" there on a Friday evening and after about 7pm it's not all that nice. Music is too loud which kills any conversation, beer not cheap - and often there's no real ale (or it tastes so awful you end up on John Smiths), and I have seen people come in off the street and charmingly drop their trousers on the way through the door. Yeah, I know it's not the pub's fault, but that's the kind of people it attracts. If you see me in there I have been heavily persuaded (or bribed).

not sure what your talking about. the staff are helpful and friendly. its the only place in town that have door staff and there is rarely trouble. the last was over 2 months ago. new menu is great and good value. if your in Alton you must go here!!
|
I think the Wey Bridge is the worst pub in town, there are fights, the door staff are under-trained, the drinks are overpriced, and the crowd in there look like they are from the set of hollyoaks, No soul.
|
Finally someone who dosn't talk bollocks and agrees with me. buy the way i didn't know they supported local teams, it's nice to see for once that a chain pub still has time for local sport and it's not just about makeing money. Big up THE WEY BRIDGE, THE MANAGERS AND THE STAFF, Doing a great job.
|
The Wey Bridge is an excellent, fun and safe pub to drink in all week. The weekends are busy but well managed and are the only pub with door staff to ensure no trouble makers get in, open till one am which means no minnies for us! Yippee!!! The quiz is excellent and food is quick and excellent value. The staff are friendly and helpful. The new managers were put in to try and create a town centre/community pub which i think is very tricky but by sponsoring local teams doing charity events etc their succeeding. Well done to all at the Bridge your the best pub in Alton by a country mile.
|
I think The Wey Bridge is the best pub in Alton, GOOD food, great staff and the landlady and landlord who are running it now has turned it around and making a good job of it. It's already makeing a good name for it self, there are a lot less under age drinkers on the weekend and all the riff raff are being shown the door to. Pat on the back to all the team at The Way Bridge for makeing a night out in Alton worth going out for.

Martin, the Eight Bells and teh Railway doen't do trouble!
|
ok, yeah there is trouble, yeah teh food is ok, the ale is awful, yet to taste a decent pint of ale there. very lively at teh weekends and then ok for a meeting place of an evening in teh week.
the staff are cool, although teh music does leave a lot to be desired. it is one of teh better pubs in town but it does depend on what you are looking for!
|
I think that the Wey Bridge is a very good pub on the most part as it is good for food if you want something other then chips and like the Wetherspoons kind of pubs during the week. I agree that when they have DJ's it can be difficult to have a conversation in there but this is on rare occasions. The quiz nights are a lot of fun every thursday and the staff are friendly and approachable.
In response to what was said about there being trouble in the pub, please find me a pub in Alton which hasn't had any problems??
|
I think you are being very harsh - It's a great pub for a local drink, the wine is cheap the food is ok. They sponsor the Alton Cricket club. Ok so like any Pub they get some dodgy visitors but on a whole i think there is very little trouble. As for other local drinking holes - The market is a dive - the bakers - well. So don't knock - the only decent pub in Alton.

woah! woah! woah! what is this?!?!? i grew up in alton....thought it had reached the pits already but this baby is lower than low....think alton terries and then square it....`ello mush....loadsa toughies and horrendous slags....christ, i'd forgotten how ugly everyone in alton is.

Unfortunately, bring a pub that to my mind is a miserable excuse of a place to a quiet town and you attract a hell of a lot of young foul youth that sit there in their gangs, looking at you wondering if they could beat you up in a fight. The one time i did get to drink in there (you will be lucky to get in as it is usually packed) i wanted to leave as soon as possible. The place may have the slightest hint of an atmosphere- untill they turn on the loud thumping beats of DJ Massive etc. Conversation becomes difficult and add to that a lot of teens drinking jugs of foul looking liquid and then falling about- you have a foul place to be on a friday night. If you survive the onslaught of foul gazes from "barry bruisers" dotted around the place- run. I never went again.

Thanks to its late licence and wide range of alcopops, The Wey Bridge is proving a powerful magnet for binge drinkers from as far afield as Bordon and Aldershot. The arrival of this vast and soulless chain pub has sounded the death knell for many of Alton's traditional nightspots, which are clustered around the now ghostly quiet Market Square.
Despite the brace of large, menacing bouncers who frame the WeyBridge's door posts, there is often a bit of a scuffle going on outside on Friday and Saturday evenings.
Prices are comparable to Winchester, which is to say slightly higher than average for Alton, unless you buy your drinks in ten-pint pitchers.
