THE RED IS OPEN! HAS BEEN FOR NEARLY 2 YEARS!!

This pub is now open again after being devastated by fire.

Hello, this is Fran from BITE. Please leave any new comments on the other Red Lion, Little Missenden that is listed. This profile is regarding the Red Lion before it was re-opened, and is therefore out of date. Thank you, Fran

The Red Lion has re-opened!
In a triumph of good sense, it is exactly as before - even the beer range is unchanged (even if it could do with the odd slightly more interesting real ale).
Excellent country pub - could this be the only refurbishment in the last ten years which has retained the outside kharzi?

Tragic! I went out to see and the damage is worse than I thought. It's going to be closed for some time.
I uploaded a photo of the interior before the fire, I hope it gets put on as a memory of how quaint this pub was and hope that it will eventually be restored although hundreds of years of history has gone up in smoke.
|
That is terrible news. Hope it reopens soon, it is one of my favourite pubs.
|
Now sadly closed due to serious fire damage on upper floor. I am informed this is not permanent, but given the huge number of closed pubs now turned into bijou residences which litter the Chiltern countryside, will believe it when I see it...

Very busy pub popular with hikers. Tables at a premium on Sunday afternoons, generally because the food is so good.
|
Really nice, large portions of lamb and a great pint of Flowers.
|
An attractive, very old, traditional village pub. Good atmosphere, open fires and an excellent Lamb roast on Sunday. Decent Real Ale - usually choice of 3 (on last visit: Pedigree, Wadworth 6X and Flowers)

Great pub, full of locals how live in the village. Spit and sawdust pub last time I was there. Great Beer and if the Missenden river is flowing, great beer garden on the river
