Lovely place to stay; the perfect get away from it all break.
A cosy retreat with exceptionally good food, a very genial owner and some very well kept ales (particularly enjoyed the Northern Light). Pleasant countryside all around.
Highly recommended.

Food good (mostly), real ale less so (not a fan of Houston beer) quality can vary. Staff friendly, some more efficient than others, especially when it comes to real ale. Atmosphere very good, locals friendly.

A good pub, but we went there for the music on the second Friday this month to be dissapointed when there was none! A pint of Houston "Crystal" was well kept, but as it was 5% ABV, a little sweet for my tastes.

This is a lovely pub but the bar prices are a little bit on the heavy side for my liking. Food is great and the staff were friendly. Its all modern fittings inside an old building so may not appeal to traditionalists. I walked from here to Failford Inn which I'm just off to review now.

This is a little belter of a place!
The surroundings, food, beer, and staff (especially the lad Paul!) make it all worth the while going into here.
Set in the middle of nowhere, you have to travel to get to it. It always seems to be busy. It really is the jewel in the country!
Try it..... you wont be disappointed!

What a fantastic Inn. Stayed here for 4 nights with two friends on a golf break. Excellent service, friendly staff and locals, wonderful food and good location. Go here - don't book a hotel, go to the Stair Inn.

I Cant say that I'm a local to this pub, as the last time I went to this pub was at Christmas when visiting a friend. However go there every night i'm visiting friends nearby.
It is the only pub in approx 3 Miles, located in a small village. However the Pub boasts a a Real Ale's brewed in Scotland. Which is very unusaul in these parts. Infact its the only place you can get a real ale untill you get to a Wetherspoons pub in AYR.
The pub is very small and cosy, every ones friendly. Even to a visiting Englishman like myself.
The Food is great, do recommend a sunday roast or one of there celebration nights specials like Burns, Christmas, St Andrews Day etc. However it is not the cheapest in Ayrshire, but the best you will get in the whole area.
There is Bed & Breakfast facilities in the pub, which make it a ideal stop over if you are heading to or from Preswick Airport (approximatly 7 Miles Away)
If you are into a bit of Local Folk Music, this is the place to go. As every month there's a get together of local singers and musicians. There not the best singers but the night is fun and a good piss up. Finally stay clear from the Christain Movement which dominate the music nights, (there easily Recognised) as they seem to belief in converting you to God, as much as I beleive in converting them to UFO'S after a few beers.
