Nice pub - lovely pint of Timothy Taylor's Landlord and the food, high quality if a little expensive? No dogs? A couple of marks off for that!

good to see the old chef back, best looking man chef in kent.he should be on t.v.

Re-visited after a year or so on a Sunday and was surprised how few people were in the place. Food quite expensive, but tasty so worth it.....almost! Drink selection is limited, but they had TT's Landlord so at least I was happy!

It's called "The Greyhound". It's got a picture of a "greyhound" on it's pub sign ... but, you're not allowed to take your dog in??? ... outrageous.
What next?? ... no lambs or flags in the Lamb and Flag??
No red lions in the Red Lion.
Nobody with a regal-esque skull permitted to enter the King's Head??
Otherwise, it's a lovely country pub with a nice beer garden out the back.
Sadly, as is the case with 99.9% of Kent country pubs, they only have Wrongbow Cider on draught.

One persons nice is another persons...whatever. Visited this pub today. Being a bank holiday Monday and the weather not as rainy as predicted I thought the pub might be heaving (is that a pun?) especially as the web site advises booking the restaurant at weekends and bank holidays, but it was very quiet (may companions thought too quite). There was the hub-a-bubble of a few locals. The low ceiling, timber beams and leather chairs make the inside a picture post card of a traditional country pub. The pint of Landlords was very nice and I have to say the food from the snack menu was excellent value. Disappointingly the side order of chips, were anaemic and saggy. However, the home made steak and kidney pie, was one of the best Ive ever had. Ill be back.

Nice pub on the outskirts of the pretty Hever village. Decent ales with Taylors Landlord on draught, although a very limited bottled range from half empty fridges. Food was reasonably priced and plentiful, if unremarkable. Very friendly front of house manager, but don't expect to bring your dogs into the bar...garden only...quite unusual in a country pub and one rule that must deter dozens of dog owners from frequenting this otherwise decent pub.

great pub. home cooked food, great beer, a warm welcome with lovely staff.... had my parents 50th wedding anniversary there and it was FANTASTIC....
|
Good pub with a friendly atmosphere. Good food and rink selection. One criticism is that they seem to cater for weddings with the bars being shut when they do, but there is no sign left outside so until you walk in you're not made aware of this.

More of a restaurant than a pub. Wouldn't bother again.

Nice and snug on a cold afternoon. The staff were good and so was the Harvey's so all was well with the world.

Four pumps, three on, Landlord, Harveys, Pedigree. Wood burning fire to rt of entrance then a contrasting narrowish, almost formal, modern looking dining room to rt of bar with tall-backed leather chairs. Divided by the bar area itself are two rooms with hops adorning the lintels and carrying more of a country feel, esp that beyond the bar with little offshoot nook seating. The bar has a fairly mod look with chrome handpumps, there is a nice deck area at the front with small picnic sets overlooking the adjacent, but quiet, road. Extensive food menus with some of the prices at the upper end of the scale brunch mixed grill 9, gammon/egg/chips 12, sarnies 5 but there is a popular senior citizens weekday lunch 2course offer for 8.50, even if I was surprised that half the starters were garlic dishes. As I left I noticed a sign mentioning a large garden to the rear, and B&B available.

Had a great meal Sat 18th Aug 07. Staff excellent & food very good. Setting & surroundings cosy but not stuffy. 1st Class beer. You do pay a bit more for all this but you will come away feeling it was money well spent.

Lovely pub.Good menu and nice ales.Staff are polite and friendly.Had a real cosy feel to it.

Visited on 19 July (lunchtime) & was treated very well with an excellent meal coupled with good service & well kept beers. I agree the raised terrace is a treat beside a quiet country road and a separate garden at the rear.
|
Food is good but pricey. Had to change my pint of TT Landlord as it was acidic; changed without fuss. Will give another chance in summer.
|
Really friendly staff. The food is excellent as well as the service. I had steak pudding and because the pudding was hard at the bottom they replaced the whole meal and didn't charge me anything. Beer is Timothy Taylor and Larkins. Big garden and nice raised decking at the front.

Great Food, Amazing in the Summer for sitting out on bench by country road. Very pleasant bunch of local young guys, public school lot but not too pompous.
