It could be a great pub

Not really worth commenting on. Badly run pub. I really think that regulars should be told off for staring at or throwing looks at strangers as they walk through the door ( its very off putting) I won't go back unless it changes.

This pub is appalling the service is diabolical , the staff are just one step above retard , they bar people for nothing and the CAMRA man has stopped delivering the newspaper.

This looks very much like a pub that has seen better days. It looks an impressive building from the outside, although the �E� and �S� were missing from the original gilded pub name above the door, with the more modern pub sign above it looking a bit incongruous. Inside, all the original rooms have been knocked into one, with the bar counter in the centre of the room. This pub is also on CAMRA�s inventory of pubs with heritage interiors, and I noticed what looked like the original ceiling (still painted the dark "racing" green as mentioned by Mr Monkfish), cast iron pillars, as well as some cut and etched glasswork. But it has none of the Victorian grandeur of the Salisbury down the road. There was a big pull-down screen showing the Stoke v Wigan game when I was in, plus at least four other TV monitors around the room.
London Pride was the only real ale advertised when I was in, although there was another handpump with a GKIPA clip turned round. I ordered the Pride, but it tasted exactly like GKIPA, and the two ales are very different in taste, and I know the difference quite well. I mentioned this to the barman, who tried a taste and said I might have a pint. I�m not sure what he did about it though. If he checked while I was still in there he didn�t let me know the result � but he was on his own and presumably that would have made it inconvenient for him to leave the bar. This is not a bad pub, and it was quite comfortable, but there was nothing sufficiently special about it that would make me want to pay a return visit.

One of many lovely classical pub buildings in this area, this is certainly an impressive environment in which to have a couple of jars. The entrances have a certain grandeur to them and it is blessed with big windows that allow plenty of light into the airy seating area and also allow you to cast an occasional eye on the world going by should you wish to do so. The ceiling is nicely ornate but for some reason has been painted a particularly murky green colour which somewhat detracts from its beauty.
Dark wood prevails on the floors and in the furniture and jolly nice it is too. The central island type bar is also from an era where as much thought went into the look of an object as well as its practical application. The bar staff were polite, efficient and helpful. The beer was good (they only have two real ales on at any time from what I could see and unfortunately one of those was off) and they have a fair choice of lagers and spirits. Price wise it was neither the cheapest nor the dearest that you'll ever come across and was very much par for the course in this locale.
Entertainment wise they have the ubiquitous flat screen TVs showing the sport, but this seems to be more of a background feature than a focal point. They also have a seperate area at the rear with a pool table that is accessed through a purely decorative (bt nice nonetheless) arch.
It was very quiet when I visited, but that was in fairness at about 6.30 on a Sunday evening, and I would imagine that people that require a lively buzzing atmosphere in which to enjoy their beer might not appreciate it's more subtle, gentle charms. However if you fancy a quiet drink and a chat or just a place to read your book or paper over a pint, this is an ideal place. Probably not a destination pub, but certainly one where you could while away a lazy afternoon quite happily.
My only criticism is relatively spurious and entirely personal to me and that is that there is far too much Arsenal paraphenalia littered throughout the pub, which might cause a Spurs fan such as myself to feel a little unwelcome.

For some reason looks a bit forbidding from the outside (maybe it's the location opposite the station and the huge Sainsbury's) but this is a great, cozy, friendly little pub, and makes a good night out when combined with food at the spectacular Salisbury down the road. Some nice architectural features here (but should the ceiling really be black, and it would be nice if they got rid of all those cables).

NEVER go to this pub. I used to be a regular some years ago and the place was a welcoming and friendly hang-out, I was there most weekends for the pool tables. Then I moved out of the area and popped in today for the first time in ages to try out my (equally dreadful) 3mobile broadband connection outside my flat. What's happened to the place? The staff were rude, the atmosphere threatening and I was CCTV'd and rushed out within fifteen minutes for not spending enough. Worst pub in London, avoid at ALL COSTS.

Architecturally splendid, if somewhat down-at-heel. Would not go out of my way to re-visit given choice of drinks. Not too odiferous on my visit.

Smelly pub, annoying dogs - which also smell - and tend to crap on the carpet. Plus last time went in barman picked up a packet of peanuts from the floor to sell to me (!) but had to tell him not to bother when I noticed a mouse had nibbled through the packet at one end!
had one pint and left - felt ill the next day.

Sort the drains out. Smells awful. In every other way the perfect boozer.

I'm Sir Benjamin Disraeli, and I give this pub 48 thousand pints out of 5. Not only is its focal point a dashing picture of yours truly, with no eyes, but it's also where I like to get obliterated, eat pork scratchings and watch premium sport until my eyes fall out. You can also play pool and darts simultaniously. I bloody love darts. The smoking area is truly a thing of beauty - a sistine chapel of smoking areas. It features a pavement, a table and some bins.

By far the worst pub in London smells from the toilet prevail all over the pub
The landlady is drunk more often than not,and is very rude
The pub dog left a nice package by the gents toilet door the last time I was there.
The only good thing is you can see every Arsenal game

The rudest, surliest landlady anywhere!! She would rather sit on her arse drinking than serve. This used to be an alright, relatively lively boozer, but now the beer smells of rotten eggs, the live music and karaoke are laughable and no food. This could be a great boozer with a little imagination, the only thing i'll say in its defense is that its a good place to watch the football, that's if there is no rugby or tennis on!!!

A proper, old-fashioned pub with a great landlady and friendly staff. And a pub dog.

Proper pub, good service, good atmosphere for football despite the Gooners(get back over the other side of the park boys). This is just a nice comfortable pub with good staff a few guest beers and it would be perfect. Give it a go.

Good pub shame about the toilets. I have been going here for nearly 20 years and no matter how many refurbs have taken place the toilets don't change. I'm told the men's is equally poor

A terrific local; very friendly, comfortably laid-out, great quiz. I only wish some attention would be paid to the quality of the dry white wine, which spoils my evenings there!

A massively improved boozer, great traditional North London pub. Fairly recently started selling decent beer after a long keg/lager only period, now sells a lovely pint of London Pride and Green King IPA. Bar staff all great, a real family atmosphere seems to pervade. Live music, pub quizzes, even bingo! (I won two Prizes in one night!). Big screen for footy, a couple of pool tables, good blend of clientele-what more could you ask for.

this pub is a friendly pub, really fun when the karaoke is there.
